  1. It looks like the heaviest precip axis with this type of storm would be running through central NC but it ends up being West of here. Doesn't make sense and the Op doesn't match up with it's ensembles. Can win for losing.
  2. Does this mean that we might have to worry about a warm nose at some point or is this a different type of setup?
  3. GFS goes from nothing to this in one run. Wow.
  4. Looking a little dry right now but hopefully that will change.
  5. Wow Pack. You been taking snow deprivation therapy!? Well come to think of it, less than an inch is slowly becoming a solid event for central NC.
  6. The Euro has shown a threat for this time period for several runs now (~4). Hoping it has legs.
  7. Awesome GFS run if you like cutter after cutter.
  8. Any more suppression than what we got last week and it will be snowing in Cuba. I'd like a nice 26 - 28 degree snowstorm. This super cold, bone dry air doesn't work for us.
  9. We have to have a strong HP to get the cold this far south that we need for a good snowfall but it is a double-edged sword as we have seen this winter. It's just ridiculously hard for everything to come together here just right for snow. Something usually screws it up.
  10. You know, it's funny you said that. I was just thinking the same thing this afternoon. They all stinking fall apart as soon as they pass the mountains. Every . . . single . . . one of them. You know your winter's in trouble when you have to rely on a clipper to see snowfall in the first place but we can't even get one of those. On top of that, it seems to always snow to the North, South, East, and West of me over, and over, and over again.
  11. That's fine. I'm not putting them down. I've posted several times over there and they seem to be good folks.
  12. We really need a good snowfall to fill in the snow holes around here. Folks, including me, are seriously grumpy right now.
  13. Well I've seen plenty of bickering and infighting on that "other" board myself so it's not immune to it. I've seen Brick raked over the coals plenty of times over there. My perception of the "other" board is that there tends to be more folks from the Western portions of the SE such as Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee that post on that board. This board tends to have more folks from the Eastern portions of the SE such as SC, NC, and VA that post on it.
  14. Now I can see how much snow I'm not going to get with better accuracy: http://www.noaa.gov/media-release/noaa-kicks-off-2018-with-massive-supercomputer-upgrade
  15. I'm just hoping to end my sub 1" season drought.
  16. This is a pretty good read for the upcoming pattern if you are interested: http://www.stormhamster.com/e010518.htm
  17. Nothing like 70's in the middle of January when you are a snow lover.
  18. Thanks for the info! If that actually turns out to be the case then central NC is screwed when it comes to getting a good snowfall anymore unless things change back in that area in the future. With no blocking we get cutter after cutter. Folks say we don't need to have a -NAO to score here but my past 3+ winters of less that 1" of snowfall per winter speak for themselves.
  19. Is there some logical reason behind why we have not been able to get an -NAO lately? Is it just because we haven't been in a pattern that will allow it? Hasn't it been several years since we have gotten a sustained one?
  20. I don't know CR. That shadow of discouragement (snow hole with 1/4" of snow total) almost made me break something last night.
  21. Thanks for the link Grit! I'll check it out.
