I refuse to believe this. The property taxes on our place in the Adirondacks is jaw dropping.

For better or worse, did not even try to photo the eclipse... wanted no distractions from taking it all in during totality so only a set-it-and-forget-it video.

I love the urban shots just as much as the woods/ mountain/ lake shots.

...I only spoke to a couple people who didn't bother with viewing the eclipse due to, "what's the big deal", and "who cares, it's just the moon passing by the sun, it happens".  I guess I don't understand or connect with this kind of mentality.  Is it just me or is it too geek to be pumped up about, and enjoy something like this on high euphoric levels? 

I don't think I'm in the minority when I say, these events are WELL worth viewing if you can, and this eclipse was so much better than 2017 for obvious reasons.

5.5 hrs driving up (7:30a-1p), non-stop

8.5 hrs driving back non-stop (and not including ~1 hours just to get out of Newport)... I-91 was 5-10mph for 100+ miles, we did some backroads to I-93 and they were intermittently bumper to bumper as well... pretty remarkable at 12:30am Monday night to see stopped traffic on I-93

And I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Such a stunning celestial feat + pristine weather + in our own backyard... not again in our lifetime.

Unless you're alive in 2079.

Problem with the cell phone pics is that even a sliver of light around the edges gets dispersed out on the picture to make it look a lot brighter and thicker than it is. 

Yeah, some of those pro-looking shots are awesome, but even the low budget looking pics are pretty wild too.

My friend read about this. He said earthquakes usually happens before Solar Eclipses.

This seem more like an underground weapons experiment from China. They tried to hit Manhattan, but were off by a few miles.

I know how you both feel...I was 15" 7 weeks ago, and am still at 15" today.  Just too much winter to handle. Make it stop.

Ride into work seemed to show off all types of Frozen Precip.

Rain last night, with some sleet mixed in. Sleet pelted for a bit, and I almost became aroused.

When I left Lava lake @6:00am, as expected there was nothing to show for winter precip.  I drove off into the darkness through a depressing, very light rain, 35F, and meh. 

The hills of western Pomfret and Eastern Eastford had a light dusting of snow along the sides of the road. Temp was 33/34.

Traveling on through Ashford, and into Uconn territory the precip was light rain, but at one point the temp was slighting below freezing, and I think I hit freezing rain for a bit.  

Moving through Coventry into Bolton Notch, precip picked up quite significantly as moderate sleet was falling @34/35 F...coating up the surfaces. This caused minor excitement and a bit of movement in my pants, but not sustained.

Here in Manchester light snow is falling @36F. Was moderate snow earlier. 

With the exception of a few gusts overnight, so far the event has been mega-meh as expected in these parts.  

Edit: Coming into Storrs was the most "damage", but really not much. A few limbs in the road, most had already been cut to allow traffic to pass.

While some up north have a shot at a decent, final round of snow, for most of the forum winter weather is finished...For me, it was finished in mid-February, as the season went out with a bang, pounding me with an entire 1"...I think from a cold squall line. 

The grades (all items are equally weighted)

Overall Seasonal Snowfall: F 
Picking up where I left off last season, I ended up with another meager, seasonal total...15", which was only 4" more than last winter's disaster.

Snow vs. Rain: F 
Rain was king

Staying power/ (number of days) of pack: D- 
What little "Pack" that I had did manage to hang around a bit.

Local winter enjoyment: F 

Temperature: C
Cold was there, but just not at the right time.

Snowstorms/ events (quality/ quantity): F 
My biggest event was under 6"...Not even nude-worthy. 

Overall Grade: F 

Again, a failure of a season, my second full year at Lava Lake, but I'm sure the "so much potential" crew will chime in.
