  1. Izzi/Castro AFD is a treat.

Describing among other things the "double barrel" low pressure early this morning, with the southern Missouri LP and its likely devolution "later today into more of an inverted trough" amid the overall deepening cyclone.

  2. Had high hopes with the "fast start" overnight but after all was settled I arrived to 3.5" at home. My tire tracks in the 2" this morning were still evident.

Measured 4" closer to Woodstock. Certainly not our first Winter Storm Warning to miss the cut.

Rippage by O'Hare this afternoon was great.

  3. Anyone catch Tom Skilling mention this yet? One of my favorite memories was him discussing the GHD blizzard as soon as the EURO starting showing it a long ways out.
I remember it and it was the best. Let's send him off with an all-timer.
  4. LOT’s recent graphics. The solid gold bordered snow block from midnight to 6pm tomorrow for Rockford area has me excited as a snow enthusiast.
It also has me slightly concerned as the snow removal guy for both my house & my in-laws next door. P&C from LOT has the wide range of 7-15 potential inches.

Same with the 7-15 P&C. Came together nicely since this morning.

More snow from this past weekend on the ground in west burbs than back home (little to none here). Probably won't make a huge difference in the accumulations but would be nice to have that starter layer in place to maximize the early potential with temperatures a few degrees above freezing yet.
  5. Super bummed.

Trying to think back to when I connected with John's site - probably around 2000 - was such a window to the UP, meteorology, snowmobiling and then, as he was the snow man, it was magic.

We enjoyed one of his snowmobile Ride In Make-a-Wish fundraising events probably 17ish years ago. That weekend in Houghton and on the Keweenaw, we met people from all over and local business owners out at their places on the trails in such a unique way. I know those events were a team effort with friends of John and the site but it would have never happened without him.

    What an ambassador he was.
