  1. This is the most excited I’ve been about snow since Dec 2018. And I might even be more excited about this one just because of the fact I’m chasing it up to Boone instead of just waking up to it while I lived there lol. This is gonna be a fun one guys. And as always fun to watch everything come together following it with you.
  2. Well guess I’ll stick to this thread since I’ll be back “home” in Boone for this one and the fact some people in the main thread should honestly take a break from the internet. Good news is at this point, it doesn’t seem to really matter outside of something massive changing; foothills and mountains, especially along the BRP are set to get smacked. The LP seems to be in a decent/good position on every model at this point.
  3. 6Z GFS looked similar on the surface til 84 compared to 0z, then everything looked like another East jump. Haven't looked at upper levels yet.
  4. So uhm... Where do we go from that GFS OP and ensemble run? Cause outside of just everyone getting snow, I don't really see how you get a bigger storm than that.
  5. Improvements on the GFS. looks like the energy transfer happens a bit sooner for the developing low, and everything appears to basically be shoved 50 miles ESE from 12z.
  6. Through 66, 500 levels look better, Bit SE of 12z. Heights look a bit higher out west, which I believe helps our LP dive further South and East.
  7. Got a place reserved in Boone for Saturday night. Time to reel it in.
  8. After living in Jefferson/Boone for 15 years or so...I now get to remember what it's like to go through all this lol, I'm ready to move back to Boone already.
  9. Welp, we have the usual cliff diving after every OP run even though the ensembles are still strong for most. "MOST"
  10. The one thing I will add to this is that the ICON sniffed out the December 2018 storm first. Not perfectly modeled of course, but it was the first one to pick up on it. However I do agree, entertainment value is high.
  11. Well, the ZR that was a hotspot was right close to me I can do the honors if you'd like?
  12. At least the Ensemble so far say we can wait another run before popping the popcorn for this thread.
  13. I know all the focus is on this weekend. But that last GFS run had shot after shot after shot of potential through the end of the run. What's the famous tag line.... "If we don't score in this setup, we suck" or something along the lines of that?
  14. Imma go ahead and cash out now for the weekend storm. Better chance of that happening than betting on that certain game ending in a tie last night.
  15. Packing the bags to come up from Charlotte tonight! Haven't decided to head towards Banner Elk or stay close to 40 in the Smokies yet. Been too long since I've seen snow.
  16. I'm sketchy on the new Tundras as for now, but we'll see what happens when I actually get my hands on one.
  17. I've been living in Monroe for almost 3 weeks now. It's rained twice for a total of about a quarter inch.
  18. Hey guys! Been a while since I posted and miss being in this subforum. Actually moved down to Monroe (SE of Charlotte) last week, so my 13 year run in the mountains is over. Can't wait to see what happens up there this winter, I'll have to live it through your guys' posts! (Self plug, come buy a Toyota from me lol)
  19. Got ice on the trees and some of the car handles at my lot this evening.
  20. After today and tomorrow hope we are honestly done with snow. The sun has made me happy.
  21. Light glaze in Boone this morning. Heavy rain in the early morning hours really prevented heavier accumulations. Roads were worse driving home last night than they were going to work this morning.
  22. Not sure what the temp is, but can tell the HEAVY rain saved a lot of ice from forming, at least so far. Still some ice on the trees, but a little bit bummed.
