Now that we’re in the “-ber” months, I’m itching for some good winter weather discussion.

JB going +3 to +4 above normal, for basically the whole E coast, on his preliminary winter forecast. A La Niña looks likely, I’m guessing the winter can’t be worse than the previous 2?

Watch this be the one winter we get a 73 repeat and Iowa gets firehosed

But still, stay safe Mack, and don't feel afraid to drop in once in awhile!

I think they average only 30” of precip a year, iirc, so it’ll be like living in Shetleys backyard, only more snow!

Hey Mack, You know the upstate will now get an epic two footer this winter.

I know! I’ve always wanted an ‘88 redux, this looks like the perfect winter for that! :snowing:

Plot twist. You moved to Iowa because you were tired of the lack of snow in Simpsonville.

They have a lot of wind , too!
I won’t be dissatisfied with lack of snow up there!

DBQ has actually never recorded a winter that failed to get below zero.  Most winters will have at least a dozen nights below zero.  Too bad you weren't there for the big cold in Jan 2019.  DBQ got to -31 then.

    Wow! I had no idea!

I guess we will be gaining a member in the Lakes/OV forum.  You will make fun of us for how we handle heat but we will make fun of you for how you handle temps below zero.  :sizzle: :shiver:

It's also possible that the "South of 85" curse is specifically because of Mack and the country may now be faced with a new curse of "South of Hwy 20"(hwy that bisects Dubuque). We should all monitor 20-21 snowfall in Iowa and the midwest and if this hypothesis proves correct we will all chip in and buy Mack a house on the beach in Fort Lauderdale  !!!

And, anticipation will bring you back to post in the SE Forum, for sure, as we all love to watch a good tragedy, i.e, our GFS-inspired winters.

Enjoy the new environs, Sir !  New adventures are always great for the soul.

Thanks! I think I will end up right on 20 in DBQ, not too far from the arboretum

We'll miss you, Mack.  You've been a mainstay of this forum for many years.  Best wishes in Iowa!  Enjoy all the snow that you will get there!

Thanks! Can I still post in the SE forums?

You'll spend a lot of time up in Wisconsin.  Those weekend strolls over to Madison and up to Wisconsin Dells will be amazing.  Hope you like camping and fishing.  Definitely an outdoor sportsmans paradise.

Yeah, Dubuque is awesome! I love all that outdoor stuff! Only 2 hours to Chicago, I’m excited!

I just don't even know what to say about this incredible pattern we've been in for 29 months now. Just passed 2in for the evening and I'm now over 51in for the year.

    GSP now at 40.46.

It’s ridiculous! GSP is +20” of normal, since January 1st! This is the most anti-Shetley pattern, I have ever seen! No 130s in sight and we won’t need a tropical system to save us!
