  1. The expanse of 6"+ snow totals with this storm is most impressive. Can't think of another storm that had this many, across such a wide area. Here's all the official site totals for Jan 1-3 (note there a few on here that don't "exist" anymore, meaning they don't officially record snowfall anymore). 3. November 2018 temperature and snowfall rankings for cities that were in their respective top 20's all-time. Alpena, MI: 5th coldest Chicago, IL: 13th (T) coldest - 4th snowiest Cincinnati, OH: 9th coldest Cleveland, OH: 16th coldest Columbia, MO: 4th coldest - 15th snowiest Dayton, OH: 11th (T) coldest Des Moines, IA: 10th (T) coldest Dubuque, IA: 8th coldest Evansville, IN: 7th coldest Flint, MI: 5th (T) coldest - 7th snowiest Grand Rapids, MI: 10th coldest - 15th snowiest Indianapolis, IN: 15th coldest Kansas City, MO: coldest on record - 2nd snowiest Madison, WI: 19th coldest Marquette, MI: 3rd coldest - 12th snowiest Moline, IL: 12th coldest - snowiest on record Paducah, KY: 7th coldest Peoria, IL: 8th coldest - 2nd snowiest Rochester, MN: 11th coldest Rockford, IL: 7th (T) coldest - snowiest on record* St Cloud, MN: 17th coldest St Louis, MO: 4th (T) coldest - 8th (T) snowiest Sault Ste Marie, MI: 16th (T) coldest - 13th snowiest South Bend, IN: 6th coldest Springfield, IL: 5th coldest - snowiest on record Springfield, MO: 6th (T) coldest Toledo, OH: 14th (T) coldest Wausau, WI: 8th coldest *via LOT's website - 18.5" in 1895 not listed
  4. 3 cities have broken their records for snowiest November. Moline, IL: 17.9" thru 11/25 *Rockford, IL: 15.6" thru 11/25 Springfield, IL: 9.4" thru 11/25 *since 1905 on LOT's website, but records actually go back to 1893, and Nov 1895 had 18.5"
  5. And RFD's storm total of 11.7" at midnight would alone be good for 3rd place for their snowiest November on record. Alas, this storm pushes them up to 15.6" for the month (thru yesterday), which bests the 14.8" of Nov 1947 for 1st place.
  6. 17.0" in Oskaloosa, IA is the highest total I can find right now. Impressive. As for MBY, just an awful storm...one I hope not to repeat anytime soon. A bunch of miserable cold rain...and then after it flipped, we've been stuck in subsidence hell. Got some light snow dancing around in the wind now, but it's nothing more than a mood setter. Regardless, it's been a relatively wintry November...so all is not lost.
  7. November 2018 has cracked the top 10 snowiest for Chicago. Of note, all but one of these seasons went on to produce a snowfall total that was above average (2015-16 did not, as that was a strong/super Nino). Edited to update through 6:00 am today. 1) 14.8" in 1940 (season total of 52.5") 2) 14.5" in 1895 (53.6") 3) 14.3" in 1951 (66.4") 4) 11.2" in 2015 (31.2") 5) 11.0" in 2018 thru 6:00 am 11/26 6) 10.8" in 1975 (43.3") 7) 7.6" in 1953 (43.2") 8) 7.5" in 1893 (44.4") 9) 7.1" in 1978 (89.7") 10) 7.0" in 1950 (54.4") Also since 2008, this November joins these months, in their respective monthly snowfall top 10 lists: Nov 2015, Nov 2018, Dec 2008, Dec 2009, Jan 2009, Jan 2014, Feb 2008, Feb 2010, Feb 2011, Feb 2015, Feb 2018.
  8. 39˚/35˚ at my house, gusty winds, and rain has begun. Going to be a long, cold, wet night here. Maybe a few consolation flakes at the very end. Enjoy the snow to you all receiving. Definitely jealous.
  9. Or you could be me, and miss warning amounts by 15-30 miles. For "fun", the 15z HRRR has double digit totals in the NW corner of Kankakee county...and 0.3" IMBY. No idea if that'll play out as modeled...but that's about as brutal of a miss as there can be. Regardless, expecting quite the cold soaker here with maybe a car topper at the very end. This storm has the potential to replace 11/30-12/1/2006 as my most hated ever. Oh well I guess.
  10. 12z Ukie is pretty much a whiff for RFD. Takes the low over IND, which is a green flag for Chicago, lakeshore thermal issues nonetheless. Hoping to squeeze out an inch here in IKK. Didn’t think that was going to be possible...
  11. Gotta remember that these days, Hoosier is as warm biased (self admitted) as the CFS is wrong. Anyways, here's a list of cities that are currently off to a top 10 coldest November on record. Rankings of mean average temperatures from Nov 1 thru Nov 21. Alpena MI: 30.5˚ (4th coldest) Chicago IL: 35.2˚ (9th coldest) Cincinnati OH: 40.8˚ (8th coldest) Dayton OH: 39.0˚ (9th coldest) Des Moines IA: 32.9˚ (8th coldest) Dubuque IA: 30.2˚ (4th coldest) Duluth MN: 23.0˚ (5th coldest) Evansville IN: 40.5˚ (5th coldest) Flint MI: 34.0˚ (6th coldest) Indianapolis IN: 38.1˚ (10th coldest) International Falls MN: 20.1˚ (7th coldest) Kanas City MO: 35.8˚ (the coldest) Marquette MI: 23.5˚ (2nd coldest) Paducah KY: 42.3˚ (6th coldest) Peoria IL: 35.0˚ (7th coldest) Rochester MN: 26.0˚ (6th coldest) Rockford IL: 33.1˚ (8th coldest) St Cloud MN: 23.9˚ (6th coldest) St Louis MO: 38.8˚ (3rd coldest) South Bend IN: 34.7˚ (7th coldest) Springfield IL: 35.3˚ (2nd coldest) Springfield MO: 39.0˚ (T3rd coldest) Wausau WI: 26.5˚ (6th coldest)
  12. RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LINCOLN IL 540 PM CST THU NOV 15 2018 ...NOVEMBER MONTHLY SNOWFALL RECORD BROKEN AT SPRINGFIELD... ONLY HALFWAY INTO THE MONTH...SPRINGFIELD HAS ALREADY SEEN 9.4 INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATE. THIS IS THE MOST SNOW ON RECORD FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. THE OLD RECORD OF 9.2 INCHES WAS SET IN 1951. THE NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR NOVEMBER IS ONLY 0.6 INCHES.
  13. Springfield been getting hit good this morning. This November probably going to be a top 5'er for them. SPI started today with 4.1" for the month. Snowiest Novembers on record: 1) 9.2" in 1951 2) 8.5" in 1975 3) 8.4" in 1926 4) 7.6" in 1932 5) 6.8" in 1974
  14. This is correct. My most hated storm ever. Anyways, snow coming down at a good clip here right now. LOT threw up a WWA for IKK for 2-3" total. Seems doable. Relatively fast start to winter here thus far. To add, glad we're not in the LAF. KLAF 151052Z AUTO 04007KT 3SM UP BR FEW007 BKN010 OVC026 M02/M02 A3014 RMK AO2 UPE05B41FZRAB05E31SNB31E41 P0004 I1002
  15. Crazy day. Had two bouts of snow and high wind gusts. Second one had pretty heavy snow really. Bunch of trees down where I was today...2 fell on cars and 1 on top of a house. Nobody hurt thankfully. I don't get paid enough to be out in these elements.
  16. Under wins for IKK, as I predicted. Friday's peak HI was 108˚, for one 15 minute ob...otherwise it hovered around 105˚ for a couple of hours midday. High temp was 92˚. And yesterday the HI clipped 105˚ a few obs...high temp again was 92˚. No 80˚ dews either, which is sorta surprising considering IKK's history...but we also haven't been as wet as others in N IL. So all in all, a July 1995 repeat this was not in my hood. Still pretty miserable though...I must have lost 10lbs the last 2 days in sweat.
  17. I'm going to take the under. Regardless, for those of us that work outside in these conditions, Friday and Saturday will be a rough go...dangerous really. Why people root for this sh*t is beyond me.
  18. Dust Bowl II cancel? But yeah, very tropical rains under some of the cells. Only got 1.25" here yesterday, but it seemed like more considering it rained on and off all day.
  19. Yours truly was in attendance. It wasn’t the best conditions for sure, and the result obviously. Still had fun though. Alas, you should have gone...I would’ve bought you a $9.75 beer.
  20. Just checking in and see cyclone talking Euro fantasy land heat and Hoosier beating the drought drum. Yep, same ole same ole.
  21. Has the look that it should be snowing in Toronto and thereabouts.
  22. 17 here, in 1992. Who remembers the snow of May 1989? That was a pretty cool event, no pun intended.
  23. If I had an early tee time that morning(s), sure.
  24. Summer of my dreams. It was Chicago's 4th coolest in recorded history (since 1873). 66.6º in 1875 66.9º in 1915 67.0º in 1884 67.1º in 1992 67.2º in 1891 3rd coolest in recorded history for Indianapolis (since 1871). 69.9º in 1927 70.0º in 1915 70.3º in 1992 70.4º in 1950 70.8º in 1958 Was also the 8th wettest summer for Indianapolis (17.28").
