But some come here only wanting weather discussion on a sunny day

    ....

lol.  I come quiet or active, sunny or downpours.  I like knowing why things the way they are, boring or not.  If I were interested in MILFS, COC, and retirement I'd go in the banter thread, shut my mouth, and read on.

lol. Why not?  if you are looking for a strictly science and meteorological discussion maybe this forum isn't for you.  This is the "social" part of social media.  How boring it would be if we had pages and pages of drawn out analysis with zero banter.

It sounds like what you are looking for can easily be obtained through a weather app, but if you also enjoy small a windows into the lives of people with a common interest in weather,  than this is the place.  The varied personalities are what make this place interesting, especially during the dull stretches.

Banter thread, then.  Talk that stuff all you want there.

You came into a weather thread to see if it would be sunny and nice for the next 5 days, answer is yes. Would you like an hour by hour temp analysis.  Nws Boston

When things are quiet, this place turns to MILFs, and that's cool with you.  Got it.

  4. That's triple nasty, eyewall.  We are under Double Filthy Conditions today, just a notch below your weather.  Woke up and found dew on the grass with an air temp of 78F.  :axe:.  Went for a walk in the woods and came back drenched, feeling like I walked in the swamp, under water, uphill both ways, with a sloth on my back.

  5. For Saturday in my neck of the woods, NWS has 95 F, WU has 97 F.  Those are very rare forecasted high temps.  Yeesh.  And I won't even comment on the Heat Index (find a happy place, find a happy place, find a happy place), but here's this morning's AFD from the NWS:

    Current
heat index values are between 95-104, with a few locations
across Addison county likely to exceed these.

I do fertilize; once every 6 wks or so. Last treatment was weed killer with fert. It seems to do this every summer around this time. Looks good in May and part of June, then starts to get the straw like look

Meant to put this in the lawn thread

Have you tried cutting out a 6"x6" square to expose the roots?  See if there's a difference between the roots of the healthy green grass and the dying grass.  Maybe a larvae  problem, maybe of rotting roots problem.

Crazy gradient from you to here...

PWS up this way down into the low-70s now...while it’s 85-90F at a lot of SNE sites.

Even some mid/upper 60s showing up in NEK of VT and N.NH now for the afternoon.

This map shows how all of New England is suffering from this brutal summer HHH, as far as the eye can see.

Yes, Then same idea, This is what the inside of the container looks like, The tray sits 6" above the bottom so that is all water below there, You pack those two pieces of drain pipe with soil in the container, That's the wicking part, I also have a drain hole on the outside of the containe at just under 6" so the water never gets above that level, This pic is about a week or so after planting.

    Really clever set up.

I'm going to weigh-in on the whole COC thing.   What would be the photo on a COC brochure?  Ideal day of a season in season

    1) in summer, the COC brochure would have crystal blue skies, green lawns, white sands, no one has broken a sweat in a photo.  This brochure hits in April.

    2) fall would have people in their LL Bean fleeces picking apples or carrying 3 logs of firewood into their cabin.  Unbelievably vibrant foliage.  This brochure hits in August.

    3) crystal blue skies on a ski-slope.  A subtle bonus is a stake revealing spectacular depth in a brochure that comes out in October.  This brochure is out on Nov. 1.

    4) close up of daffodils because there are no other good images of spring in New England.

The photo will always reflect the quintessential image of the season.  It absolutely varies by month/season.  No one is ever uncomfortable.  They neither shiver nor sweat, and all the women are hot.

That's what COC is all about, Charlie Brown.

Well said, moneypitmike.  That should end the discussion, but it won't because of goalposts.

Speaking of goalposts on an alarmist's other favorite subject, here's a summary of where things stand today, the USDA definition of D0, and a map of the northeast.

"Some short-term precipitation shortfalls have popped up across interior southern New England and a few other isolated areas, but D0 introduction was not warranted at this time, and the region remains free of any dryness on the Drought Monitor. " - Richard Tinker, NOAA

Just taking a wild guess, but I’ve got money on DIT calling for an extremely hot and humid summer in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Amazing how some can make the same forecasts for years on end between certain months.  Almost like wishcasting?

I’m not even against calls for a very very very humid summer, just wish there was something backing it up instead of making the same claim literally every year.

Twitter Mets with full credentullz and Duh-greez on wall are serious sources.  Especially if they have followers and know how to post charts for easy (but not necessarily accurate) comprehension.

How we pray.   I really thought June would snap after around the 14th. Next week looks like a step up, as numerous others have mentioned.  Slow transition this year

It may only be the occasional burst of heat.  Perhaps even no official heat waves.

It is pouring.  Radar looks like we are in it for a while.

Heavy, almost torrential rain here in Orwell right now.  Solid 50 dBz returns entering to Addison County.

Wow, crankiness levels are really maxing out lately, and it's not that hot yet.

Huh, I thought this place was full of crankiness about the lack of HHH and bitter ACATT name calling by the wishcasters.

  14. New, summer pattern coming for the first week of July?  Shocking.  The bravery of going out on such a thin limb...

And then predicting that in 7 weeks time we'll forget a somewhat cooler and wetter than normal?  The boldness is inspiring.
