  1. 3 degrees at BWI now so the record low part has been broken... just need to stay below 22 for the high now, which I think we'll do.
  2. Record low watch issued for this Saturday (Jan. 4) too at BWI.
  3. Record lowest max watch and record low watch being issued for next Tuesday (Jan. 7) for BWI ... current record lowest max for Jan. 7 is 22 and record low is 8. Forecast is calling for high of 19 Tues. and low of 11 early Tues. morning.
  4. Ha! I just about to post that before you did. Yes, the BWI low of 62 beat the previous record of 59 set on Dec. 23, 1990
  5. Both record high and record high minimums broken yesterday and today at BWI... wow... an historic (but short-lived) heatwave.
  6. Actually that's Saturday's (Dec. 21) record, I was talking about Sunday (Dec. 22) where the record is 70... but now that you mention it, I agree, Saturday looks like it will likely be broken too.
  7. Record high warning being issued for Sunday at BWI.
  8. Daily rainfall record set yesterday at BWI (1.61 inches). The previous record was 1.4 inches set in 1940.
  9. Record lowest max was tied today at BWI (32 degrees).
  10. I think there's a good chance that BWI has a record low and/or record lowest max either this Sunday or Monday (Nov. 24-25).
  11. We talk a lot about vanishing late season snowfall but its getting just as bad in the early season (i.e. November). The 1971-2000 Nov. snowfall average at BWI was 0.6 inches; the 1981-2010 average was 0.4 inches. If BWI gets no accumulating snow this November, it will tie the record for the number of consecutive Novembers (8) with no accumulating snow. The two other time periods were the 8-year periods of 1979-1986 and 1997-2004. Also, 1979 did have 0.3 inches of snow in October, so technically if we're talking about no early season snow at all (and not just November), then 1997-2004 is the winner.
  12. This morning's rain puts us at 7.61 for the month. Slight chance of rain tomorrow might bump us up to 4th, but I doubt it.
  13. Wettest Octobers at BWI: 1. 2005 (9.23 inches) 2. 2012 (8.92 inches) 3. 1976 (8.09 inches) T-4. 1942, 1937 (7.75 inches) 6. 2013 *as of 10/13* (7.43 inches)
  14. For the 2nd year in a row now, the wettest October on record watch is being issued for BWI. (2012 ended up finishing in 2nd place, behind 2005).
  15. BWI officially reached 90 for the high today. Though this was not a daily record, this was the first time BWI has had a 90+ day in October since 10/9/07. October 2007 ended up tied for the 5th hottest October on record at BWI.
  16. 2013 hasn't been very extreme compared to 2009-2012. Having said that, there's a few things I'm watching for in October for BWI: -If we'll break or tie at least one daily lowest maximum record in Oct. for the 5th year in a row. -If some crazy record-breaking event will occur on Oct. 29 for the 3rd year in a row. -If we break a record high this Wednesday, Oct. 2. The record is 89, NWS currently calling for high of 84 and TWC calling for 86. Its an extreme long shot, but a positive bust could make it happen.
  17. I was one day off- we didn't get it yesterday but we got it today. Overnight low of 53 at BWI, the record was 54.
  18. Possible record low for BWI tonight. NWS calling for low of 53. The record low for today is 51 and tomorrow is 49. I would assume any low would be after midnight, so the 49 will probably be the one we're competing against.
  19. If July ended right now, BWI would be ranked 11th hottest (avg temp of 80.7 degrees). It looks like that's going to be knocked down in the next few days though.
  20. Wettest July on record warning being issued for IAD lol
  21. Something crazy I found out... not only was August 1955 the wettest month ever for BWI, but summer 1955 was also the wettest summer ever, with 25.38 inches of rainfall. However, that summer also had the driest July ever, with only 0.3 inches of rain.
  22. BWI finished tied for 7th, with 7.81 inches. If DCA hadn't stole all our rain on 6/28 we would've broken our record (quite a disparity that day- DCA got 2.86 in. while BWI got 0.02 in.) I was in that DC storm though and it was an incredible amount of rain.
  23. Last night's showers moved us up to 7.73 in. and 9th place. Another 0.04 in. will put us in 8th, and another 0.08 in. will put us in 7th. 2.22 in. to the goal!
  24. The 0.43 in. BWI just recorded puts us at 7.50 in.- just 2.45 in. away from tying the record. We are now in the top 10. And NWS has chance of storms every day and night until the end of the month. This could be close...
