Luckily we can also get tons of snow in that 6-8 week period. We just need the Pacific to cooperate in those times and not blast maritime puke all over the continent.

What I have noticed lately is when we do get those blast of pac puke it takes longer to reverse then years past. If that type of relaxation is forecasted it basically means 4-5 weeks+ of no winter threats

We don't know that for sure. We can easily snap right back.

We have become to warm to snap back to that type of run. Yes we will have snowy winters again (ex: 20-21) but we won’t have those type of season consistently

The rubber band is eventually going to snap back to snowy winters. Who knows when.

You experienced them during the early 2000’s. It’s all downhill from here now.

Yeah as you pointed out yesterday, next week looks miserable. Rainy early to mid week and then chilly and windy mid to late week. I'm hoping we can break out of this pattern and get back to nice weather for the 2nd week of April.

Definitely signs of the warmth returning 2nd week of April

Interesting to see next week whether this bowling ball storm happens for New England and how far south the bowling ball can get. There’ll likely be a ton of snow north of that closed upper low. For us I’m sure it just means tons more rain but maybe I-90 and north should keep an eye on it. This blocky NAO pattern which of course shows up right on time to nasty up the spring makes that more likely.

I  don’t think this block orientation would have worked in January. It looks to far south to me which links the ridge off The Atlantic. It also should be noted the pac is still a mess. While it’s enough to give us a awful start to April, I feel it would have been more of the same in January

Absolutely puking snow. Roads are completely covered. Building up that late March snowpack. This storm has been awesome. Finally kicked the doldrums of nothingness we’ve been in for months.

Yup, with temps crashing through the day it will freeze solid. Enjoy

That 4 sigma 500 mb Greenland block in the forecast looks to be the strongest of the year so far. So a very active pattern will continue into early April. Spring will remain on hiatus for a while longer.

This season has reminded me how true this is for our region. I won’t give my final season grade until 4/15 at the earliest and this storm has likely bumped it up a half letter.

WWA hoisted for a couple more inches of snow with the deformation band as we fall back below freezing overnight into tomorrow morning. There will be a rock solid glacier by Wednesday, which looks downright frigid for late March.

Looks like the rain/snow line has collapsed through the city now. What a wild event for your area…

The qpf amount is impressive for the Midwest

How the 12Z ECMWF is fully out to 240hrs on wxbell is beyond me, doesn't seem possible.

It’s also faster in finishing now. Next winter the 12z run will be completed by 1:15pm
