LMK had us at 1/2 inch total and right now at 3 plus and still a couple hours to go. Might end up around 4. They have been poo-pooing the Wednesday system and saying maybe an inch so that one is looking good for a foot.

Got up at 1130 pm yesterday and was getting freezing rain and it has not stopped since then. It started mixing with sleet at around 8 am and has been mostly sleet since around noon. Luckily only got about a quarter inch of ice and around 2 inches of sleet. Was supposed to switch to snow around 1 o’clock but still not a flake.

18z GFS still sux for bottom half of Indiana. Rain and ice..
Hoping to stay out of the significant ice and eek out a WSW for a 4 inch snow right at the end. We have had four snows this winter and all have been a half inch or less so I’ll take it.

So was watching the weather last night and they showed the NHC forecast cone with intensities showing a cat 2 at landfall. Why do they put that out there 5 days in advance with intensity forecasts being what they are?

Vacationing in Destin/Miramar Beach. Almost all models take Elsa way East and Southeast of me but 12z NAM and NAM Nest are much further west. While seeming unlikely, anyone have any thoughts on this?
Will be there next week. We have done it on the 4th before and it was a bit too much excitement so there at least some people more boring than you.

Unvaccinated doesnt mean there isn't some level of immunity.Though the reports are that you are more likely to be hospitalized if you have the Delta variant (which is prevalent in the UK). Guess it would take some digging into, and perhaps the picture is becoming more muddled with increasing numbers of people being vaccinated to help blunt symptoms. How the virus is behaving in unvaccinated people is a good way to see what it's doing.

Today is the ninth anniversary of the big outbreak that included the Henryville tornado. The funnel cloud that eventually became that tornado passed about 5 miles to my south.

Look on the bright side, March mud brings April tornadoes, or something like that.Entering least favorite time of year....mud and 40s season. Could be a wild spring though.

Same here. Starting to hear the B word thrown around. Doubt it meets strict criteria but close enough we might get some pretty sizable drifts.Yeah hoping for minimal wind once this stuff turns to sugar. Always seems like we're the last to see a plow out where I'm at. Plus its going to be falling on top of a mini Cyclone77 glacier so little resistance to hold it in place.

Everyone biting hard on it down here. LMK saying they might have to drop to Advisories NW.Yes, everything has been north of what was forecast all year, today included.

LMK had southern indiana at 2 to 5. Local stations wont make a call before 12 to 18 out, change it 5 times and then declare victory.GFS v16 kuchera has us in 11 inches, my local news says 1-2 inches. NWS says 2-3 inches.
Lol..

I was in the sweet spot in 2004. It took a week for the plows to get by my house. One of the neighbors had an excavating business and used a loader to push open one lane but if you met anyone one of you was going to have a long way to back up. I was off from work so it was a lot of fun. We had about the same in March of 96. Very heavy wet snow that brought down about every cedar in the county. It looked like a tornado had been through with miles of road full of trees and power lines. Some were without power for 3 or 4 weeks although I was very lucky and it was just a few days. I measured 30 inches on the hood of my truck after it was over but of course there was major compaction. The 78 blizzard would round out my top 3 and I dont know if I could really pick between them. I guess I will call it a 3 way tie.My favorite still is the Pre Christmas 2004 Ohio Valley Storm. Somewhat forgotten and there's not a ton of info and past articles about it. Being in western Indy we got 10 to 12 inches. Areas just south and south east easily foot and a half to some areas in southern parts of the state approaching 3 feet. My 2nd favorite storm was the polar vortex winter storm of early Jan 14

Pro tip: Shovel early and often. One hell of a sleet storm going on here. At least an inch of sleet, with most of it in the past 30 minutes. Just a sleet deluge with intermittent huge flakes and still some freezing rain. Never seen anything like this.

Hope buckeye is doing well and he starts posting again soon. Won't be winter without him. Dusting here and now 31 and rain. Maybe we pull off a Christmas miracle. Good luck to the Ohio crew.Eve and day for sure. So far out yet, but been watching it for days now. Praying to the snow gods to give us a Christmas eve/day snow storm.
As for Buckeye, I think he left the board due to the covid thread it seems. He posted a rant there and has never posted again. Hopefully he comes around. One of my favorite posters here.

Everything will get shut down after the election. I dont know how bad it would have to be to do it before then, probably bodies laying in the street.Today broke yesterday's record high number of cases in Indiana. I was thinking the number would be a little lower than yesterday since it's Saturday, but that's not the case.

Whenever I think of "Sally" I keep picturing Sally Field.
She must be a bigger part of my psyche than I thought.

Looking good down here in Southern Indiana so far. A little high cirrus but lots of blue sky peeking through. Fingers crossed.
