  1. Well it is official. Oldest Ms J let us know that she will be studying in Prague in the fall. As part of the AU Abroad program she will be attending one of the oldest film schools in Europe. And the rest of the family has decided that we will all go and pick her up in December. I have always wanted to see the Christmas Markets. And as her program end date is December 19th we are heading over for the Holidays.

NWS missed this one....Thunderstorm in Brunswick. Line sunk further south than forecasted and they never updated!  Some of us catch early trains!!!!

    Overnight
Mostly cloudy early, then becoming mostly clear, with a low around 59. West wind around 6 mph.

Models including 6Z HRRR also missed this line completely.

Woke up to quite the light show from that one. Think it was around 3/4 am. I had a hunch that stuff up in PA last night might push south so we hauled the catio in before we went up last night. Glad I was correct as hauling that thing in that early in the am would not have been fun.

  3. So the older Ms. J is in a scriptwriting class this semester. The next assignment is to write 3 pitches for PSA's. She was going to do Spay and Neuter your pets, but changed to Weather PSA's. We got into the discussion about how the NWS has changed up their wording recently so that the public takes it seriously. Will be interesting to see what she comes up with.

  4. My station has the event at 2.46 with .75 since midnight. Drove across the Monocacy River and it is well out of its banks. Ballenger Creek is behind my house and observed it from the 3rd story well out of its banks.

We seem to do well here with easterly wind components. Pretty good soaker area-wide. Most of the pws’s show over an inch near mby.

Latest readings with what I can see the backside coming in.

Man. That road got plowed quick. Lol.

I got about 4 inches and the roads were clear when I woke up. The driveway never caved.

Yeah the only way my driveway is going to cave is when what is on the solar panels decides to rapid melt. Actually just happened and freaked the cat out who is laying on my other daughters bed. :D

  8. Just took the kid to her job at the skate rink. We have this beautiful restored bank barn in our neighborhood, with a walking path down to Ballenger Creek. The amount of snow just lining the branches and the clear path made for a put my car in park and grab the iPhone for a couple of shots.

Now we just wait for the solar panel avalanche that will happen as when I drove into the garage I can see the panels heating up and the snow slipping.

M4.0 storm total Reisterstown, RSTM2 COOP site. Melted down was M0.31" liquid. I have a feeling that was our last snowfall of the year.

I am no Met. But these last two snows to me are like what we get in late March Early April. You get that heavy wet snow that by the end of the day is gone. I am not a subscriber to that furry hormone driven woodchuck and his shadow. But for those who are he agrees with your last sentence as do I.

Moderate to bordering heavy snow now in Frederick. Massive flakes. Cars completely covered and grass totally whitened up.

Yep just looked outside again. Deck fully covered as well as grassy surfaces. The street is finally caving after the HOA snow contractor dumped a whole seas worth of salt down. Was like driving on pop rocks there was so much.

Hold up. You let your kid stay in DC during a marginal snow event?

Google, what’s the number to Frederick County Child Protection Services…

I know! But she would have missed the 1 am fire alarm for burnt food in her dorm hall had she come home. Got to weigh out the college experience over some snow. Rough call. :D
