25/24, SN/SN+, 3.1”. Snowglobe outside.
Great to see the reports of snow hitting Frederick.
I wish we were in Canaan this weekend!! So jealous!
Spring sport tryouts begin Monday for HS...decided to stay home. But maybe regretting it...

Not the forum for it, but one FF confirmed dead. Our house shook.
Prayers always to our first responders. Sorry for the banter.

This one is awesome that’s going on now. Silver dollar dendrites and ripping. Good time to get into the hot tub.
18 chilly degrees.
What's your windchill? I'm not looking forward to getting out of hot tub lol. But I'm doing it!

Looks like Deep creek/Canaan are the places to be this weekend. Wisp will probably be 100% open after this next storm and could top 60” on the year so far. Mountains have had a great January for the ski resorts.
I'm rolling tomorrow. Just need schools to close on Friday so Family can join me early!

Fairfax and bmore county two hour delays. Setting the tone early. No closings and making the effort to get the day in.
.Loudoun on 2 hour but side streets are terrible. Nothing but ice. Can't see how they don't close tomorrow.

Either way if a solid 1-2 is shown on guidance it’s still snow on snow! Also it’s during the highest impact time Friday which helps with canceling school
That's all I need to get out of town early....please just a few inches falling during morning commute

Nights like tonight remind me of the radio shows which were the nerdiest thing ever but damn if you didn't feel like there were other people like you... while everyone else was bemoaning and whining about the impending snow. Still can't believe someone as smart and respectable as Wes was willing to join us on some of those
I loved those!

I was wondering about roads when you said you were heading down. But they really cleared up after noon. BWF park was beautiful today! Turned out to be a great day despite the temperatures.

We chose Canaan because we love everything about the Valley. Dolly Sods, hiking, fishing...it's got everything. And the new ownership at Timberline is fantastic. We will move there permanently in a few years. The downside is if you need a special tool, part etc you're an hour to either Oakland, MD or Elkins. Sucks when you are doing a project and have to drive an hour for a carriage bolt (don't ask me how I know)
It's also a very small town, everyone will know your name.
If you are looking for something small, Black Bear resort often has 1 or w 2 BRs that are somewhat reasonable by today's standards.

Deep Creek- Just starting to go back to like a 50/50 snow sleet combo as the heavier rates move in. Really hoping some heavier stuff can come through and bring back the pure snow
After a lull in Canaan then sleet, we are back to mostly all snow with just a little sleet. Really coming down now

The forecast for Canaan Sunday looks pretty epic - high of 27 with a couple inches of upslope. Just bought tubing tickets...and there are a ton remaining (and only $36 pp). Just sayin' if you are feeling like a road trip to (a real) snowtown...
I'm looking forward to a weekend of snow...wish it was going to be a foot, but I'll take what we can get.

I mentally thought about where my shovel is - so I bear responsibility too.
I took my tree down AND did shovel inventory AND put scrapers in both trucks

I was on Eastern then joined this forum in 2011. I don't know enough to post but I sure do enjoy reading all of the analysis. I used to wake up at 2am to turn the weather channel on for updates; my husband is grateful I only now just need to read my phone and not wake him up in the middle of the night anymore. haha. Thanks to all (most) of you!

Just got back on Saturday from a few days at Wisp. I’d say about half the runs were open with the base eroding quickly after that big rainer last week. Good to see they’re snowing lightly now and should continue to do so over the next day or so…and I imagine they’ll be in pretty good shape come the end of next week.
Timberline is completely open except one double black. Base was getting a little sketchy after the rain last week but they got some new snow and started blowing again. It was packed on Saturday but they kept the lines moving.
