Man, I was taken aback by the winds that rolled through here around 9 last night.  Some of the strongest I've ever seen or heard around our new place.  Intense and swirling.  Immediately there were sirens to be heard coming from everywhere and friends were texting about how crazy it was.  I wasn't expecting it at all because everything I had heard from local Mets was that the parameters weren't there for severe down our way.  I'm actually about to check the property for any damage.  

I had the same thing in northern York. Could hear the wind coming. All the winds in the past year never moved my kid’s trampoline, mind you it’s tied to a massive log. It lifted the trampoline until it broke the rope tossed it about 20 to 30 feet in the air. I ran out to secure it so it didn’t hit the house as I did so stuff blew over my Neighbors house to the left, then switched and started blowing over my neighbors house to the right.  Tossed my chairs all around by the fire pit. Not sure what it was but was very strong and swirled. Heard sirens for the next 15 minutes non stop. Bunch of trees down and one landed on a car that was driving. This was between ski roundtop and Pinchot lake. 

Wow got hit really hard trees down all over. Sirens blasting for last 15 minutes.

Yeah, I am not that far south from Harrisburg live in Northern York and have a massive inch of snow. Road and sidewalks just wet. A lot of models showed a screw zone and I think we found it. Ohh well onto the next.

I am at camelback and it snowed about an inch. All rain currently.

Yeah I agree. It didn’t blow off and over. Lifted and had rotation if you ask me. Guess we will find out soon. Hard to tell in the video but almost looked like a darker area extending from the sky to the building. 

Starting to get frustrated with PPL. Looks like they didn’t fix any power outages last night. Been out since 8:30 last night. Now they changed all the estimated repair times to unknown. It wasn’t very widespread at all. 

Wow wish I could post the video, intense hail.

Thunder and lightning 3 miles from Ski Roundtop. Crazy part wind is calm now.

Wind was 300 landed runway 30 so wasn’t terrible. Landing Teterboro was nasty crosswind.

Amen try being a pilot, coming into capital city airport yesterday gusting 50 is not fun at all. 

Close to a big hit on the Euro, will take that with how over amped it is with every storm.

They have a full summer camp now, tons of zip lines, bumper boats, fishing, geo balls etc. no mountain biking. They did not open all the slopes this year and would say ran around 65 to 75 percent most the year. 

One last final kick in the balls. York and Lancaster have to be less the 6 inch total this year.

I agree with you on this. I can’t remember a year we failed every storm. I was with Roundtop management last night. They can’t believe how many nights they couldn’t even blow snow this year. They close Sunday and couldn’t even do the pond skimming this year do to lack of snow. Most nights they did blow they said they typically would not have in the past. What’s everyone’s season total?

It's looking more and more like I'm going to be going through the Big D, and not Dallas.

Despite my mom's need for assistance with daily life, my wife will NOT consider moving out here to Arizona, and has said there's no use in continuing the marriage. Now, some could say I should move my mom back to PA, but it just doesn't seem feasible.

First, I don't know if she could handle the stress of such a big endeavor in her rather fragile state. She has severe COPD, and in the past was brought back from death during a cardiac arrest. We'd have to sell this house and our house in PA, and try to find a ranch home somewhere. With that in mind, my mom&dad took out a reverse mortgage years ago, so we'd get only 50% of the sale of the AZ home. 

Out of that, there's moving costs, multiple air trips to relocate cars, and probably a short term nursing home until everything was finalized. It would probably take all of us broke doing that.

Really, it's best for my mom to stay here where her doctors all know her condition and her medical needs.

There's much more, including weather, where the cold impedes her breathing capability. Her lungs work at 20% and as such is on 24/7 oxygen. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. She'd struggle mightily back there.

On top of that, and the real reason I'm out in AZ, is her macular degeneration. In the photo, she is at stage D, so I am her eyes, her transportation, and her cook and housecleaner.

There is no way I can stick her in a nursing home, go back to PA, and basically abandon her out here. How do you do that and say, "ok mom, here you go. Have a nice life..."? I can't do that.

So, I guess I needed to vent a bit, and see what you guys think. Am I right? Am I wrong? Am I the evil ogre my wife is trying to make me out to be? 

If anyone cares to respond, please DM me so we don't clutter up the thread over my dilemma. 

 

 

I am very sorry you have this situation it’s a no win win. I will tell you I was in a similar situation about two years ago. My wife was very close to her dad and had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. They gave him three months to live. He was able to fight and lived for two years. During those two years she spent a lot of time with him way more than with us, our family. It was very straining on our relationship as I almost felt abandoned in a way. It’s a two way street and both sides have to give and take. I spoke with many people about my situation and had great guidance. If you love your wife and can make it work then I would try. I know this is a terrible thing to say it’s your mother. But you can’t ruin your life your future with your sole mate. Let’s say you get a divorce end that chapter. Then your mom passes away what do you have left? It’s hard it very hard but don’t put your wife second and try to make it all work. Maybe you could come home every two weeks. Find an in-home nurse while you leave. When we got her dad a In home nurse to care for his needs it helped relieve my wife. After he passed my wife realized how hard it was and was extremely grateful she still had me and our family to come home to. Just please look into the future and past what is happening in front of you right now. 

I really was not expecting heavy frost this morning.

Its actually way worst then that. That’s just the first part they have a helicopter over it now. At least 4 sections missing.  Parts completely washed out.

I live in northern York and we have tons of them. We have made a game out of killing them even with my neighbors joining in. Easily 100 to 200 a weekend get destroyed. Crazy 

Starting to lose some of my birch trees, 5 years I have had them planted. All of them lost at least 50 percent of the leaves few lost I would say 80 percent. Haven’t mowed in two weeks and entire yard dry and brown. This week coming looks brutal. 

Man it is so dry at my place it looks like a Desert. Can’t buy a drop of rain nothing today and a light shower yesterday.
