Tbh, 9 months of summer and 3 months of a true winter is kind of appealing.

I'd love that!  I enjoy the occasional winter storm but do not like the six months of depressing bare trees and dreariness at all

Sunny and still 80 at 5 pm

    .34" Total.

    . 84" for October.

I dont really want big rain in October, but I am really tired of these GL/OH lows repeatedly  too north of us.

Yeah that better not happen this winter!  Just over 0.5 here

  3. Drippy droppy day as we get ready to get the crockpot going, the beers chilled and an all-day football marathon

I found a monarch chrysalis on hanging from our fence and it's hatching this morning.  With periods of rain and highs only in the 50s, it's going to be a guest for a few days!

Was today anniversary of DC area stations earliest snowfall measurements?

I believe that's right -- October 10, 1979.  I was in middle school in Calvert County and everyone was stunned seeing 2-3" of snow on the ground and still-green trees.  Can't believe it's been 44 years!

  5. What a gorgeous day and looking forward to a couple more.  I'm trying to take in as much as I can of the green trees and flowered gardens knowing that months of dead-looking landscape lurks around the corner

My 25-year old board name doesn't match me any more LOL.  Give me nine months of summer

Getting some rain here this morning from the developing coastal low that is going to soak places further northeast. 0.15"

Looks like 3-6" for NYC in a relatively shorth period. Flood.

I just read their forecast disco -- talked about of 5-7" in some areas with up to 10" possible.  Yeesh!

Cloud cover looks thin here so hoping for some sun today

How many successful hatches have you had this year?

About 30 so far with about 10 to go.  My wife took a few into her pre-school class for the kiddos to watch them hatch and release them

So now my zone has partly sunny tomorrow and Thursday -- yes please!  I'm really looking forward to that nice stretch starting Saturday.  We need to cram the good weather in before deep fall arrives

While it's still raining in some areas, here are initial rainfall estimates from https://mrms.nssl.noaa.gov/qvs/product_viewer/

Thanks for posting that link!  I've been looking for a good precip map after iweather ruined theirs

I got another 1.1 overnight into this morning for an event total of 2.6 and an incredible 8.4 for September.  The yard is lush, green and squishy after being rock-hard during the drought.  I went from August 7 to Sept 8 with zero rain, capped by that ridiculous heat wave at the end

It did last year, when Euro predicted a MA snowstorm while the rest of the models showed a cutter. Then the euro caved inside 5-6 days. We believed the euro because it was a good model. Now we know better.

Remember a couple winters ago when Topper Shutt did that "we're breaking up" video on the Euro?

  10. 2.6 from the heavy thunderstorms last night for an incredible 5.6 for the month (all since Friday).  The ground no longer feels like concrete and brown grass is greening up.

OT:  Lee looking more of a problem for Boston area?  FSU vs. BC at noon on Saturday looking a little problematic...
