Occasional gusts and 25 degrees. Looking forward to football and watching roof effect squalls out the windows

20 degrees and getting breezy. We're in a neighborhood with small yards, so lots of roofs for snow to blow off of making it look like a squall at times. Very wintry day!

what happened to all that great snow in KY/WV that was suppose to come here?
If you have some good binoculars, focus on something a few hundred feet away and you get that effect you see in stadiums where it looks like its snowing much, much heavier than it actually is. Just stare at that for a while

Feeling very fortunate my flight to the Dominican Republic is tomorrow so I can enjoy a snow day first
Wow talk about perfect timing, congrats! Pretty neat to be trudging around in snow today knowing you'll be sitting under coconut palms tomorrow
Snow picking up a bit in Germantown with about 4" new (based on nearby reports)

Ice is more of an issue today than Tuesday. I'm seeing 30.1 degrees on my outdoor weather station and the clouds are letting in enough sun that there's steady drippage from the roof line now. It's making some fantastic icicles but some nasty slicks on the driveway...
OT but when I walked up 1st Street to Union Station in DC on Wednesday, I saw icicles more than 2 feet long hanging from an overpass above the street. Yikes when those melt and give way
Light snow and 28 in Germantown

I feel like the only way they (OPM) close is if it was a widespread WSW.
Seems like they "close" easier now, like Tuesday, but we just telework when closed

Daytime light snow with 1-2 inches on top of snow on the ground sounds like a beautiful winter day!

What a week of winter this might turn out to be
We would take our late month warm-up like champs and get ready for February. This sub needed this week so badly

...With how our users adapted to remote work over COVID...they really should just say it's a remote work day. Nothing stopping folks from going in...24/7 keyfob access...but with kids home why not just say it's fine for everyone to WFH. Rant done.
That's what my fed gov office does -- we don't close any more, everyone teleworks today. Even if we had a blizzard again with several days "closed" we still work. Good tradeoff with the WFH flexibility we get
Got a touch of frz drizzle coming down now

Wasn’t there a 8-10” area wide storm a few years ago? Did you get snow holed on it?
In our area of central MD we got a good 8-10 inch storm in January 2019, which is my last significant snow before this (missed 2022). North Balti's area must have missed out on that too. Hope they really get nailed this time
Eyeballing 3.5 and mod snow

This reminds me of January 12/13 2019.
That was a nice one! 2019 was the last time I had a significant (5" plus) snow. That's a long stretch. Lt snow and about 1.25" here

Think I’ve got one of the better views you can have in DC when it comes to snow. Unfortunately I can’t get down to the field (shoutout Gonzaga) to use it to measure, and the courtyards in the complex aren’t fantastic either.
I’ll have to trust someone else to measure DC for me…. I’d guess no more than .5”Ha! That's my office building over there. We once had a Gonzaga grad who had a window office on that end that could see his old school's team at practice

Very light snow started back up which doesn't show on radar; 25 degrees

Winding down now with a nice dusting on all but streets. On to Tuesday! Hoping for a nice forum-wide event

Nice dusting in Germantown. We're going to Calvert in a little while so I checked temps and saw mid 40s in DC and S and E. Are those right?

OT; I work with a guy that grew up just N of Buffalo. He told me once he drove to the southtowns and went from dry ground to over a foot and heavy snow in just a few miles. Did his errand and went back home to partly sunny and dry ground. That's bats!

I drive an hour to and from work everyday, I won't apologize for it! The place I bought was on the market for like a year! Any one of you could have got it... Kidding not kidding. I know its in jest but I suffer every work day for the few times a year I get more snow.
I left southern MD to be in the N&W burbs 30 years ago and it's paid off a number of times. Now nearing retirement we want a big yard (like yours) and my wife has been floating the idea of Calvert where much of my family is. Uh yikes? But snow is rare even here now so it might not really matter
-
I haven't been paying attention and didn't know the deep south has WSWs up. Memphis is looking at up to 6 inches of cold smoke with temps in the teens and low 20s. Damn
-
Darn no blizzard game now -- guess we settle for "Ice Bowl II" at Kansas City tonight. They found a window Monday afternoon where the snow stops then it snows again from later that night until......FRIDAY

WOW I just looked at the Buffalo forecast and tomorrow's 1 pm game is going to be insane. I didn't know the stadium was south of the city which is in the better lake effect area. P&C has heavy snow with gusts to 45 during the day tomorrow with 16-28 inches total between tonight thru tomorrow night. Will they even play the game there?

Winds kicking back up for some more roof effect snow squalls, 24 degrees. Got to take this in and maybe a walk later before the big warmup starts
