  1. I'd love that! I enjoy the occasional winter storm but do not like the six months of depressing bare trees and dreariness at all Sunny and still 80 at 5 pm
  2. 37 here and frost on some roofs but not on grass. It's funny seeing temps in the low to mid 50s in Garrett County as the heat wave starts to roll in
  3. Yeah that better not happen this winter! Just over 0.5 here
  4. Drippy droppy day as we get ready to get the crockpot going, the beers chilled and an all-day football marathon I found a monarch chrysalis on hanging from our fence and it's hatching this morning. With periods of rain and highs only in the 50s, it's going to be a guest for a few days!
  5. I believe that's right -- October 10, 1979. I was in middle school in Calvert County and everyone was stunned seeing 2-3" of snow on the ground and still-green trees. Can't believe it's been 44 years!
  6. Cloudy and 69 as our mini heat wave comes to an end. We got a surprise light shower last night. Yesterday evening my wife asks should we cover the deck chairs and I'm like nah. Oops
  7. What a gorgeous day and looking forward to a couple more. I'm trying to take in as much as I can of the green trees and flowered gardens knowing that months of dead-looking landscape lurks around the corner My 25-year old board name doesn't match me any more LOL. Give me nine months of summer
  8. Nice sunny morning with a couple hummingbirds still zipping around. The next few days look glorious
  9. I just read their forecast disco -- talked about of 5-7" in some areas with up to 10" possible. Yeesh! Cloud cover looks thin here so hoping for some sun today
  10. I thought this was an interesting blurb at the bottom of this article from a few days ago:
  11. Sunshine in downtown DC! First sun in 5 days and it's my in-office day
  12. About 30 so far with about 10 to go. My wife took a few into her pre-school class for the kiddos to watch them hatch and release them So now my zone has partly sunny tomorrow and Thursday -- yes please! I'm really looking forward to that nice stretch starting Saturday. We need to cram the good weather in before deep fall arrives
  13. OK this weather is depressing, especially with lots of my monarch butterflies hatching this week. I let about 12 go early yesterday when there were some peeks but today is just bad. Ones hatching today will have to wait
  14. Thanks for posting that link! I've been looking for a good precip map after iweather ruined theirs I got another 1.1 overnight into this morning for an event total of 2.6 and an incredible 8.4 for September. The yard is lush, green and squishy after being rock-hard during the drought. I went from August 7 to Sept 8 with zero rain, capped by that ridiculous heat wave at the end
  15. Got a good burst before the lull and have 1.0 so far Good day to watch football all day long!
  16. My bar is 1 inch and hopefully falling over an extended period to soak in. Hate that it's the weekend though We are heading to Calvert this evening to see relatives visiting from CA. Glad it's not tomorrow!
  17. Remember a couple winters ago when Topper Shutt did that "we're breaking up" video on the Euro?
  18. Just 0.20 here but the grass and plants are still happy living off the big rain we got the previous weekend. Looking forward to some nice weather this week
  19. You're looking good out there; I probably mix Off and on light rain here today with 0.15
  20. From that Wiki link at the top: "On 5 September, flooding in Thessaly, Greece, killed at least one person.[8] On the same day, the village of Zagora received 1,092 millimetres (43.0 in) of rain, 55 times more than the country's average rainfall for the same month." Holy crap that is Houston (Harvey) numbers!
  21. 2.6 from the heavy thunderstorms last night for an incredible 5.6 for the month (all since Friday). The ground no longer feels like concrete and brown grass is greening up. OT: Lee looking more of a problem for Boston area? FSU vs. BC at noon on Saturday looking a little problematic...
  22. 2.1 inches from that heavy thunderstorm and another one rolling in! Already more rain in 5 days than practically the whole summer combined
  23. Now HEAVY rain with frequent lightning and thunder. Desert rats unite! We are finally getting ours
