If you have some good binoculars, focus on something a few hundred feet away and you get that effect you see in stadiums where it looks like its snowing much, much heavier than it actually is. Just stare at that for a while
Wow talk about perfect timing, congrats! Pretty neat to be trudging around in snow today knowing you'll be sitting under coconut palms tomorrow
Snow picking up a bit in Germantown with about 4" new (based on nearby reports)
OT but when I walked up 1st Street to Union Station in DC on Wednesday, I saw icicles more than 2 feet long hanging from an overpass above the street. Yikes when those melt and give way
Light snow and 28 in Germantown
That's what my fed gov office does -- we don't close any more, everyone teleworks today. Even if we had a blizzard again with several days "closed" we still work. Good tradeoff with the WFH flexibility we get
Got a touch of frz drizzle coming down now
In our area of central MD we got a good 8-10 inch storm in January 2019, which is my last significant snow before this (missed 2022). North Balti's area must have missed out on that too. Hope they really get nailed this time
Eyeballing 3.5 and mod snow
Ha! That's my office building over there. We once had a Gonzaga grad who had a window office on that end that could see his old school's team at practice
OT; I work with a guy that grew up just N of Buffalo. He told me once he drove to the southtowns and went from dry ground to over a foot and heavy snow in just a few miles. Did his errand and went back home to partly sunny and dry ground. That's bats!
I left southern MD to be in the N&W burbs 30 years ago and it's paid off a number of times. Now nearing retirement we want a big yard (like yours) and my wife has been floating the idea of Calvert where much of my family is. Uh yikes? But snow is rare even here now so it might not really matter
I haven't been paying attention and didn't know the deep south has WSWs up. Memphis is looking at up to 6 inches of cold smoke with temps in the teens and low 20s. Damn
Darn no blizzard game now -- guess we settle for "Ice Bowl II" at Kansas City tonight. They found a window Monday afternoon where the snow stops then it snows again from later that night until......FRIDAY
WOW I just looked at the Buffalo forecast and tomorrow's 1 pm game is going to be insane. I didn't know the stadium was south of the city which is in the better lake effect area. P&C has heavy snow with gusts to 45 during the day tomorrow with 16-28 inches total between tonight thru tomorrow night. Will they even play the game there?
The other day a national news show was talking about the small earthquake near Rockville and were calling it "southern Maryland"
Still light snow in Germantown and a little coating on tables, etc
