I’m in Rochester.  Deciding if it makes sense to drive up to Syracuse tomorrow and go a bit north on I-81. Looks like it’ll up my chances, but not too considerably…. Probably just need to hope for a well timed break in the clouds..

Just about 4 inches of new snow in Takoma Park

I often tell my wife I wouldn’t mind moving to Florida.  Weeks like this remind me that that’s an idiotic sentiment

Do any medium-longer range models show NAO going negative?  Seems like we're staying positive at least a while.

I'm still in the Feb 4-5 MECS camp.  This comment will make me famous in two weeks.

If trends start going in the other direction, I assume this thread gets closed and locked and a new thread created?  It's what gave us the WSW level snow last night, so...

Damn, I thought they’d dig in and keep a high level WWA.  Excellent overperformer at all levels and we still have a chance at more over performing 

Love how all the schools started off with two hour delays and will almost all be closed by 6 am tomorrow. Seen this show before, even if it’s been a couple of years 

Just came back from a very long walk/dog zoomie session. Just hit 3 inches in Takoma Park.

We got the Emmys, NFL football, the cult voting in Iowa, and our first snowstorm in two years.  What a night 

Attempted to drive from Takoma Park to Rockville and turned around.  Side roads in surprisingly bad shape apreset and even New Hampshire covered.  Saw some cars slipping. 
 

… I was in upstate NY last weekend and the difference in comfort driving in snow always gets me

I lived in Boston from 2014 to 2017.  Had some incredible snows, especially 2014-2015 winter.  But most people just go about their days.  Law school was closed three times total that winter, despite 108 inches of snow.  There’s something inherently special about getting it over here in MD.

I’m bad luck, when I leave town it snows (pretty bad streak the past three years, including this one when I was in FL the first week of this month). I’ll be gone next weekend, so hope everyone enjoys the snow

Or for NYC, or for Boston. Don’t remember any storm like this in the last 5+++ years, so close in, with so much wild uncertainty for so many millions of people
