  1. I’m at woody gap. 43 temp dropping FAST. Ten degrees in last 25 mins. Will report with photos from Twitter and post here once the white stuff starts to fly.
  2. I’ve had lots of luck at Woody Gap. Seems to be perfect for that sweet spot of ease of access and elevation. Plus they treat the roads. Thank you for the tip about the access road to brasstown getting shut down.
  3. Snow chase #2 for this season is here!! I’m debating targeting Brasstown Bald at 4700’ or Woody Gap at 3200’. My initial thoughts are the 1500’ won’t make a big difference and to stick with familiar chase territory at Woody Gap.
  4. Does that mean the threat increased farther east towards AL and west GA or just less tornadoes from this system in general?
  5. Checking in from douglas county just west of Atlanta. Expecting some nasty straight lines winds tomorrow night
  6. Went back to Woody gap in GA today. Some large snowflakes and 35 at the top but very little in the way of accumulation this afternoon. Roads were brined. They are expecting 1-2” tonight. I had targeted 441 between Cherokee and Gatlinburg but it was closed due to snow and ice.
  7. Was a good winter there. Two storms over 3”
  8. Friday night into Saturday looks like a small snow event for north GA. Limited moisture but we should see some flakes flying.
  9. Something is cooking in the LR. I’ll chase if it doesn’t get me at home .
  10. NWS Atlanta retweeted my video. Too large to upload here. Check it out. From today in GA mountains.
  11. Snow today in GA was HIGHLY elevation driven. Switched to rain/snow mix around 1600 feet and non accumulating all snow at 2000 feet then ramped up to the max in my photos at the top at 3160’. Sweet spot started to max right around 2750 feet. Temp was 34 but fell so hard it stuck. Roads were treated and pretty clear except for some slush.
  12. Got to woody gap near suches, ga 3175 feet. Had about 3-4 inches down on the ground. Photos to follow tonight when I get home . SCORE!!!’
  13. So we get two SE snowstorms this year and the Mid Atlantic is currently at zero correct?
  14. Focus on the short range models folks. The globals are less useful at this point in the game.
  15. Warm nose is going to **** a lot of posters. Remember they are always served piping hot.
  16. Blood mountain Hwy 19 (near suches) is where I crashed my motorcycle and broke six vertebrae and eight ribs. It’s usually good for snow but a warm 700-800 level is a bit concerning.
  17. I was hoping we could get the snow line down to I-20 but that seems like wishing. At least I can chase for some snow with it being so close.
  18. Wishcasting precip shield is farther north than we are expecting and cold is colder than we are expecting .
