  1. SR hype train....

    WINTER ISN'T OVER
    The snow dances are finally paying off. Forecasts for this weekend's storm are starting to normalize, and depending on who your trusted source is, the mountains of Western Maine (that's us) could receive up to 2 FEET of snow when all is said and done on Monday.
  2. The whales still have all the manipulative power.  I'm not invested but my guess is that the rug gets pulled out from under the retail investors, before the BTC halving in April.
    I put $1000 in couple yrs ago at 2400. Probably ought to cash out soon.

  3. It’s an impressive period.  Noteworthy.
    I don’t know what changed between the fall and winter seasons. Something in the global pattern switched to lead to incredible departures compared to the climo baseline.  El Niño, Pacific flow.
    Local departures at MVL ASOS:
    November... -0.2
    December... +7.8
    January... +8.1
    February... +8.4
    That is wild.
    First five days of March are averaging +12 to +13F at BTV, MPV, MVL, 1V4 (the main climo sites) too.
    Anyone know what switch was flipped?

    Lol . Better look at actual data

    So I used a min temp of 70F and min DP of 65. # of times criteria was met:

    May =0

    June = 3

    July = 24

    Aug = 15

    So while there were more than "a handfull" of days it certainly did not feel as dewy because a lot of those days were wet. When I think of annoying dews, it's usually when temp is >80F and DP >70. Regardless it's not dew all the time here.

    Trolling kevin aside. If you’re going to pull  70s in a March this would be one to do it.  It doesn’t take much for a couple of DSD days if we’re already past mud season into CNE.

    I'm ready to move on. Sledding season is done with no hope of recovery and while that hurts, it means I can get out on the road bike and do some cycling earlier than usual and at least start making plans for the boating season. I think we're due for a hot/dry summer and while I don't prefer those, after last Summer's debacle, I'll gladly take it. Lawn might not like it though.

  8. So we have an ice dam that is causing some issues. I don't think I realized what it was until I saw the large icicles hanging off the siding. Pretty sure this happens every winter at some point, but don't recall seeing the icicles before. Last summer I noticed the pine soffit trim pieces had a punky look to them and have some mold on them, but it didn't make sense at the time as to why. Now I know. Is there anything I can do now to relieve the dam? I realize there is water pooled somewhere above the ice at the edge of the gutter, but not sure how far up. Best I can do is try and shovel some of the snow off the roof immediately behind the ice. With the warm up coming, I'm hoping it melts pretty quick, but this side of the house (north) doesn't get much sun so probably won't melt as quick as I'd like. I'll definitely need to remove soffit pieces in the Spring and investigate a bit behind the wall. The backside of wall is our master bed closet. So far I don't see any water damage. Fingers crossed.
