Yep. You ain’t just dumping some gravel and fill in to fix that. Lol
Looking at Mass 511 and Google maps it appears traffic is flowing through that spot? My buddy who commutes that every day is on vacation so I lost my eyes on the ground.

Heard the same from someone who works there.

But a lattice tower like that should have had guide wires. Plenty equipment I worked on FL were on similar towers; only one I saw over was from Hurricane Michael.
The page here https://nediv.arrl.org/2022/12/23/tower-collapse-concord-nh/ said it was free standing which I took to mean without guide wires.

FWIW, the EF Scale suggests the lower bound threshold for cell tower collapse is about 115 mph.
Plausawa Hill is 1000 ft, plus the 190 ft tower gets you almost to 1200 ft. Model forecasts around 1200 ft for CON were around 70 kt sustained, so I don't think winds were quite that high.
Freezing the ground solid and then putting several inches of rain into it with a rapid thaw def decreases the amount of force it takes to knock things over.

That was really intense (about 40 min ago). Power outage and extra traffic on my road which usually happens only if some other road is closed.

Punta Gorda was destroyed by Charley in 2004. It is all brand new construction to latest building codes but seems it’s now under water. It’s gonna take a lot of flood insurance money to get those residents rebuilding yet again
I don't see any evidence of Punta Gorda underwater based on live video throughout the event. The winds have not aligned to push water up Charlotte Harbor.

Have friends riding this out in Rotonda West. Just moved down there from Jersey too. Tried to convince them to leave but they insisted on staying put. They will be passing on condition updates as long as they can.
Had a family member trying to convince friends to leave from there yesterday. Whole neighborhood is below 10'.

The obsession with the SS scale is tedious. This is a storm surge situation first, a few MPH either way in the wind estimates are not significant.

Glad I moved out of there.

Charley was in a high league…insane winds.
In Charley it was a really small strip that got the worst of it and duration was short and there was virtually no storm surge. For cool videos of wind this thing won't touch Charley but I feel like the impact in the area is going to be worse for more people.

Not the place where you want a big surge event happening. Most of the population lives below 15' asl and there are tons of canals and inland waterways.

Gunstock Resort in NH is in a sad state now...

There was quite a social media mob on their press releases on fb yesterday.

I don't exactly want bad things to happen but I feel drawn to watching them when they do. Part of me wants that big hurricane to hit a population center instead of going fishing. I think it's fair if people want to criticize that. I'm less than perfect in many other ways too.

Cool that the storm was so close to the radar site that this 56kt sample was only 702' up.

Put a fork in it? I'm ready to clear this sad 3.5" but not if there are several more on the way.
