This is something I have been watching as closely as the possibility of Wintry precipitation late next week. December 24/25, 1983 is an experience I would love to repeat as it's a top 5 weather event for me despite the lack of any precipitation.
At 12:00am Dec. 24th the temperature at my location in Eden, NC was 34; at 8am it was 23; by Noon 15; and by 5pm the temperature had fallen to +4. At 11:45pm I recorded a low of -1 for the day. Along with the falling temperatures were winds of 25 to 35mph with higher gusts at times. In my journal I recorded that we had wind chill temperatures of -25 to -35 during the day, but that was using the old scale.
Christmas Day I recorded a high of 14 and a low of -4 with sunny skies.
In my entry for Dec. 26th I recorded a high of 22 after a low of +2. I mentioned sleet and freezing rain on the evening of the 27th with a high of 29 after a morning low of 18. After a "mild" high of 34 on the 28th, the 29th saw repeat of falling temperatures during the day going from 34 at midnight, to 19 by 5pm. December 30th saw a high of 23 after a morning low of +6.
Was only 6yrs old and can remember it being SOOO COLD!! Seems like my grandmother got snowed in with us too! Lived in Rockwell in Rowan County att.

Winter is coming closer ….
I remember when I was living In Bucks County PA just above Philly we had a super wet wet snow event on Halloween day I believe. Leaves hadn't all fallen and I can remember the limbs of the trees cracking and it literally sounded lime a gun fight outside for hours. I enjoyed it up until that. Then was a hit freaked out. Not to mention it cost 3k+ for cleanup afterwards.

So the energy around texas and Arkansas l, and the energy popping up in the gulf...I should expect all that to dry up as the day progresses? Wow. Interesting.

Yea I gotta agree…. Im
NEVER that guy, but it’s about that time lol I hate any heat….it’s 63 here today and it’s already making me wanna begin my preparation for yet another miserable Carolina Summer. I’d give anything to live in Minneapolis or Somewhere it’s just never above 75 I’ve lived here 30 yrs and hate every minute from March-October lmao
Agree 100000% I love thunderstorms but abhor the heat and humidity. I would do well at about 5000ft in our mountains. I want to always have a breeze with days no warmer then 68 and summer nights around 50. That's my perfect summer wx.

I am pretty sure the Raleigh screw zone is now incorporated into the models. I was amazed this morning to still see this "event" still on the table. I am going into this expecting nothing for sure.
WBTV was about it last night but this morning AL Conklin said maybe the mountains would see a FEW flakes mix in with rain. Lolol I'm over this winter... unless something big comes our way I am signing off.

WBTV surprised me this evening. Has precip starting around 1-3am Sunday morning. Showed 2 models both with some wintry precip for CLT. No mention of amounts.

I feel if you're west of a line from say Richmond to Raleigh, we're pretty much done unless we get some big trends the next 48 hours. This thing is looking flat and weak until it's off the coast. Lots of energy being left behind.
Good lord.. we are still just a bit less then 100hrs from onset! Hello?? Have you forgot last week's insane back and forth the models were doing regarding Friday's event? Hell, the Mets in Charlotte didn't get the forecast right until halfway through the storm.. lol..

I’m not going to argue because we’re all happy to see the white stuff, but most stations are reporting light snow, occasionally moderate snow. Heavy snow or a white out is a very rare occasion. I’ve been in a few, particularly in the Rockies, and you can hardly tell which way is up. But enjoy! It’s certainly coming down nicely.
No argument. Your post was pretty tacky. Ive been in whiteout storms as well.. Presidents day 2002 in Philly (23" snow) ,Rochester, Portland Maine...

Hahaha. We in the Triangle, do not.
Sure ya do. I'm in Charlotte and history shows it can happen... not often in mid to late March but 93 and 96 were both March...

Raining and 37 in Concord NC.... I saw the "confirmed reports" of sleet above and almost broke a leg getting the window up... then realized they were from hours ago. And probably not real anyway.
