1. I know our power went out and came to find out the tornado that was warned 20 mins later is what caused the power to go out to begin with. We had no idea that was that close and happening. While I was on the phone with Blue ridge to report the outage our phones went off. It was pitch black had my daughter and young grandson here with me and this was very surreal. Never want to go through that again!

I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this here. But you should join the Facebook group. That tornado went unwarned and I actually posted 20 minutes before touchdown stating the storm was rotating before it touchdown. So it’s great group for potential bad weather and such.

2.  Dud??  Here in Pickens county sc had 2 tornadoes less then 2 miles from our house. Pretty dam scary when the power goes out and it's pitch black then your phone screams tornado warning.  I'll make sure to send the next dud system your way and see how you like it.

5 miles from my house. Sad thing is storm was never warned I actually posted about it on Facebook group. 20 minutes before the Tornado touched down.

3. Hey Jessy,
Based on the current drop in SSTs, the cooling subsurface, the forecast models, solidly positive 30 and 90 day SOI averages, +OLR, and the fact that we're already into August, I see very little chance for El Nino by winter despite my preference for it.
Check out this animation showing significant recooling:

I gotcha I’m just letting my hope get up to high. Nice of you to find me here not on the other place anymore

4. If it’s true a weak El Niño is developing. We just see how it effect the rest of hurricane season. I realize we are not at peak yet. But does anyone believe forecast of amount of named storms will bust low? I’m sorta thinking that but know we could be in for a fun winter across the southeast.

5. That’s nuts.  Maybe it’s because I’m paying more attention than what’s warranted, but I’d be at two feet of rain for May and June if multiple storms hadn’t fizzled out with a few miles from me.
Edit:  I just went back and played the loop of your storms.  Talk about a kick in the sack.  Missed you on both sides.

Yep they sure did. Beautiful structure to those storms though

6. You should apply for the weekend weather person at WYFF since Dale Gilbert retired. Been on here for a while and whenever the Upstate has a chance at winter weather, look forward to your input! Excellent point many mets had to see the potential but chose not even to mention.

Well to be fair Chris justices forecast was 1-2 in northern upstate that area got 2-4. But along the 85 corridor they got a inch in some places a little more. Chris did say the max if everything came together just right was 3 inches. Chris justice did bust a little for the upstate but the national weather service at GSP bust worst.

Almost home now. but I had one more thing to do. to truly make this trip a success. Went up on soco mountain for some good sledding I’m guessing they had 5 inches up there possibly 6 before melting. My little boys went down so many times the poor sled broke lol had a blast

8. Eden, NC:
Temp and dew point both at 33.4 and rain with a rogue flake here and there. My approximately 0.25" of snow has been mostly erased by the 0.28" of rain.
The attached picture is from a friend in Maggie Valley.Jessy89 enjoy the beautiful day!8004e0f92d63ebf2bdae02d255df0bf4.jpg&key=5ff6c4cecc90a16942fbe5e7ce84ee2157e5d24ba2d4fe9366888b88ced6da5d

Maggie valley is one of those places that are beautiful in the snow. It never gets old coming here for snow.
