Personal Favorite (or Most "Extreme") Weather Event of 2019
SnowLuvrDude replied to George BM's topic in Mid Atlantic
My favorite event is the January 12-13 snowstorm. I would have been perfectly contented with the 1-3” or so that was forecasted a couple days prior, but the double digit snowfall that came about was something to behold. Spent my 18th birthday taking a glorious jebwalk as rates picked up in the final hours of the storm. Made for some gorgeous scenery the following day. A top 3 snowstorm for sure. Outside of winter though, nothing particularly remarkable as others pointed out. There were some thunderstorms that gave me a jumpscare or two, but other than that it was somewhat tranquil compared to previous years. -

B- Acceptable overall. The mid January storm was awesome; one of the biggest reverse bust I can remember and occurring during the weekend of my birthday. Loved every second of it. I enjoyed the rare November event even if it got washed away in a matter of hours. A bit lackluster the rest of the way, but there were still some nice events in the mix as well. I love watching snow fall regardless of whether it sticks or not, so this winter didn’t disappoint for me.

To think we were in a gnarly snowhole just last winter... just crazy. What a difference a year can make.

The March Long Range Discussion Thread, Winter's Last Stand
SnowLuvrDude replied to stormtracker's topic in Mid Atlantic
Absolutely dude. I always prefer snow during our prime snow climo period. Just super annoying to see some people here dismiss it as a snow month... some calling whatever it falls during that month as a "slushy meltathon," useless snow, or what not. But to each their own! Not here to change other's opinions. For me, I'm satisfied enough with this winter; any snow from here on out is bonus for me. Just gonna have fun tracking the upcoming pattern and any threats while reading the good discussions here as always. If we don't score, so be it...Bring on spring! ....and allergy season ETA: Sorry if I derailed the thread in anyway. Just had to let it out as a lurker on this board. -

...and then we had like two snowstorms the following year (2014). DCA even had a foot of snow that month...oddly enough, it was the snowiest month that winter even by a small margin. Not sure what point you're trying to make here. Snow is snow; don't understand why it's such a big deal if it falls in March or in January. -
My predictions this year have been too bullish; gonna play it safe this time IAD: 3.9" DCA. 2.8" BWI: 3.5" RIC: 0.1" MBY: 3.1"
