  1. Gonna need more popcorn. Can someone summarize what is happening with Isaac as Flo creeps south? If she hangs around a couple of days she will certainly start feeling the interaction with Isaac to the south. That could keep her down south, no?
  2. So if we were in Vegas, what kind of odds could I get on predicting that Flo and Isaac will get together for a Fujiwhara dance in 5 days pushing the TD Flo onshore into GA and Isaac loops around into SC? I can see that happening....maybe. Lol. As likely as some of these latest model runs showing Flo tiptoeing down the coast ruining all the salt water taffy in her path!
  3. Not now Florence. I really gotta lotta other crap to do this fall. Dont like that rainfall map at all for central NC. We may have 2-4" of rain over the next few days anyway. 12-15" more would not have a positive outcome for most! Power outage prep plan....engage!
  4. Downeast, that video is brutal. For anyone wanting to experience a hurricane you should first have to watch that video with headphones on for 60 straight minutes. Thanks for sharing!
  5. You'd have a better shot of calling blizzard on Christmas Eve from this far out than predicting another Hugo. Ole Flo could be a fragment of her former self by this time next week.
  6. Someone should be seriously reprimanded for allowing that to be published. Good grief!! They could have reworded the article and said exactly the same thing in a more wx pc format. "While models are uncertain in this timeframe and the exact track is yet to be determined, it is worth noting that the last time Charlotte experienced hurricane conditions was....xyz. We'll keep you posted as new details are available." Ugh!
  7. Mother Nature is so overextended on summer that when the rubber band snaps back, snow for Halloween. Everybody dress up in your favorite Christmas costume. You heard in hear first.
  8. Not even worth the banter, but in weather terms, this would be like saying a dust devil has a chance against Hurricane Katrina. Best wishes in Week 1 though! :-)
  9. I cannot deal. This summer hasnt been extreme in any regards. Just overwhelmingly miserable and annoying. And to think the models want to drag this through Sept is a bit unnerving. What do you wanna bet we hop on the rain train in Oct with tropical wave after wave and it wipes out the best part of the year around here. I can hear JB talking about the rubber band snapping already. Maybe that means we all move to Kamchatka for Dec-Feb? One can hope.
  10. But....plenty of early season snow across the north-western high country! Seeing snow all over Wyoming, Idaho region. Never too early to lay down a good snow pack here in the states.
  11. When you find it, please livestream it and follow it every inch of the way to the triad. I may just lie in my weed lawn and sob quietly come saturday morning. I am soooo done with this summer.
  12. Man I hope you, and the models, are right. I am seriously about to lose it over this never ending pattern. Even 2 or 3 days would suffice right now.
  13. Here we go again with the afternoon rain train. If this is what is normal in florida you can forget it. House took a direct hit around 10:30 last night thru the phone lines. My alarm system smelled like it spent the night in a campfire. My dog bowl on the back deck is now my rain gauge. It shows "full".
  14. 34° degrees this morning up in Intl Falls. Last time that happened this early was the year 1918 headed into a cold and deadly winter. In NC, the Spanish Flu affected 20% of the states population and killing 13,466 people. Thankfully the Spanish Flu is in the past, but I will sure take the analog and hope it lines up a cold winter ahead!
  15. I think I just saw Pennywise on the side of the road in Kernersville. He asked me if I wanted to float. This current pattern is incredible. I certainly dont recall the last time we had rain for nearly 2 weeks straight in July/August. I gave up on using my rain gauge. I'll need to switch to a 5 gallon bucket! Definitely some street flooding across the Triad this morning. Watch out for "It". :-)
  16. What an amazing reprieve Mother Nature has provided this morning and today. 61 and windy, not a cloud in the sky! I know she is going to drop the hammer later this week with another heat wave, but this day might get me thru July without going crazy from the heat. For now, I'll take my late September morning and not burn my feet on the deck!
  17. If avg temps get any hotter than the last 2 weeks we will be looking at a string of hundies with unbearable indexes. Bring on October asap!
  18. Is there even weather anymore? Shouldnt this site morph into AmericanBanter.com? I mean normal weather would be just fine. But going from cold snaps to 90's in May to flooding rainfall to b..o..r..i..n..g is not fun. What ever happened to a good ole fashioned afternoon pop up thunderstorm?
  19. Its actually worse than heat.....its called humidity! And it sucks. And it promotes weed growth in my weed lawn.
  20. Hoping it ends just as calmly. Another season like last year and there wont be any Carribbean Islands to visit. I'd vote for weak systems that toss a little rain up here about once a month.
  21. Dangit, which one of you didnt stop doing the snow dance at the end of Feb?? This is seriously messing up my yardwork efforts. Looks like cold chasing moisture for the Triad but my point and click now says 2". Rates could overcome ground temps as they have cooled quite a bit from last week. But this isnt a heavy hitter. Doesnt look to be an overnight event so daytime heating and sun angle work against accums. And the temps look borderline as well until you get into S VA. So I'll vote against anything more than a snow shower and hope Buddy gets in one last hurrah. Enjoy Buddy! Now back to spring.
  22. Like NJ banging out 15-20" in just a few hours today? Yeah, I want one of those March storms.....not. Not here in the Triad anyway. It would be lights out, tree destruction, flower slaughtering mayhem given how warm it has been. Agreed that March storms can sometimes wind up to beast mode. I would just prefer that happen on a winter that has been chilly thru Feb to keep the buds dormant. Thank God I cancelled my trip to NYC today. Hammer time up there!
  23. If this is Mother Natures way of redeeming herself for the overpopulation of ticks and stinkbugs last year then bring on the freeze girl, bring it on. Kill those damn things. On a bright note, my yardwork is done so I will be safely snuggled in my recliner in March watching the snow gently cradle my grass seed into the soil. You know dang well its coming.
  24. I have never seen so many people get fired up over a 1/2 day quick hitter. This is a leaf blower snow. This isnt enough precip to water the garden in spring. It'll be gone in a day.....so fluffy it just evaporate on the ground. Yet here we are. ❄☃❄ On a bright note, I think 4" will bring us to annual avgs in the triad. Maybe not this storm, but inching closer.
