  1. I'm just glad there's something to look forward to. The pattern change is coming
  2. yep it seems like there really hasn't been a true cold winter day in like a month in indy. It's awful. We've had a horrible string of winters here since 14-15. Last year was bad until the March 24 storm but it was late in the year and during a time where we all just wanted a warm up. I hate storms where u know the snow will be gone the next day
  3. love how its colder every where else except for eastern us too
  4. its been like that here in indy as well. Terrible stretch for sure. Were the cursed area
  5. yep it's been bad throughout here. Pretty terrible
  6. This year was pretty boring. The March 24 Snow when Indy got 10.1 inches was nice. The extreme change from winter to summer was cool as well. Indy had just 4 70 plus degrees days prior to April 30th. On the last day of April the morning was 34 degrees at my station and rose 42 degrees that day and never looked back All days in May were above 70
  7. be nice. We all know the change is coming. Have to get through this crap pattern til then.
  8. I have hope by Christmas. Pattern looks to flip around then so that's good
  9. worst winters I've seen here in my 28 years that I remember are 01-02 only remember indy had like 10 inches whole season with biggest snow being like 2 inches, a late season or late March small ice storm was probably my biggest memory of that year, 05-06 was bad but I remember December was cold with a good 7 inch snow on dec 8-9 January was torching, first day of spring in March we had a 5 incher, 2011-12 was terrible, 15-16 was also bad, and 16-17 may have been the worst Indy had only 8 or 9 inches that year. Last year was bad until the ultimate back loaded winter hit with the March 24 storm
  10. warms up and rains gets cold does nothing
  11. It's always something. Perfect looking storm but all rain. Never goes our way
  12. yah the period from 04-09 was the best. So many good storms
  13. I like this forum too. I was wrong too lol I did use the wrong name. The west forum is definitely slow. The Tennessee Valley one only has like 36000 total posts. I dont know if it's just newer or if they mix in with the southeast sub.
  14. I agree. It seems like the Southeast sub, Mid Atlantic, Northeast, and West all have us beat. The only comparable forum is probably the Tennessee Valley. Again like someone else said it is a good and a bad thing. I'm glad that we don't have a million posts every 5 minutes but again sometimes it is just dead and the same few of us try and get the chat going again.
  15. no, It sucks here. We never get a good widespread storm anymore. I bet it was up there though for GHD 2011 and some in 2014 but I haven't seen one since joining a few years ago
  16. Oh I've had plenty of nicknames to come up with for Indiana in regards to missing winter storms the past few years. The I 70 dividing line, Moses parting the red sea (in this case storms), Indiainta, The Hoosier Dome. We all know even with that fantasy storm it will stay north or even go farther north just like when storms a week away are showing a suppressed storm it locks it in no big changes in models. While we endure many events with storms suddenly within 24 to 36 hours decide to hose us last minute. It's quite unbelievable really
  17. yah we've suffered long enough. At least its only early December though.
  18. Again north of indiana while another big storm missed south this weekend. Sucks
  19. Us members in Indiana really are the unluckiest ones. I like cold weather but of course the reason why is for frozen precip
  20. Suppressed or missed to the north. I swear Central Indiana is a winter storm repellent. Sick of it really. I know its early December but come on been the theme like 3 years in a row.
  21. I know the feeling. I hate cold and nothing then warm up and rain rinse repeat. Funny thing is during the warm up and rain events places in the northern sub get the good snow over and over again. Miss good winters in Indianapolis
  22. Yah I miss those storm tracks. Usually the best snow makers for Central Indiana are the lows originating from an area like Arklatex or like you said even farther east than that. Just hasn't really occured in about 3 years. I think the Polar Vortex storm of early january 2014 was the last to do so. We had some decent snow after the next winter but not to that extent. Just need a Dec 2004 type track, Jan 2014, GHD 2011, of course Blizzard of 78 which was almost due south to north with phasing, or Jan 26-28 2009 like event
