There is zero possibility that eye is 20 miles across imo. The eye contracting has been noted for at least two hours. Anyone have a way to measure the distance from eye wall to eye wall? I am curious if sat and radar actually show this or if it just looks that way?
About 12 mi wide.

About 18 hours away from landfall give or take. 2mb drop in pressure per hour puts this thing around 940mb by landfall.

Been snowing since about 2 am. WPC and models both indicate the possibility of up to 3 feet of snow right around here with 5+ inches of qpf.
Heading to town for geni gas because I can see where this is headed.
How much do you have down so far ?

Up to 44 confirmed deaths from the blizzard now. It’s crazy that’s 16 more deaths from this storm than the blizzard of 77. 100,000 more people lived in Buffalo in 1977 than today. There were no cell phones and social media to alert everyone to the second about how bad the storm was going to be. Just horrific.

Fort Meyers gauge now back above previous high sitting at 8.3 FT

Can see the wind shift coordinating with the surge drop. https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stationhome.html?id=8725520
Makes no sense. Latest winds are stronger than they’ve been in a while from the WSW which would funnel the water right up towards the gauge…

Looking at the IR meso loop, the presentation peaked about 30 minutes ago. Since then, some of the colder tops and lightning have faded a bit. Perhaps Ian has reached its max.
Lightning still plentiful on RadarScope.

farmer almanac says no torch from late Oct to early May this year.
Good thing it only had an accuracy rate of 45%, in other words worse than a coin flip.

Soon many torch come. Australian XMas Wx in NY. Golf and Shrimps on the Barbie.
As long as we can trick or treat in shorts and t shirts I’ll be happy. Hoping for a spooky warm torch ahead. 80+ for Halloween would be EPIC!
The torchier the better!

No matter the wind direction, Sizzlecuse torches. The lake doesn't do a dang thing to cool us down when temps are scorching, but it will warm us up when a cold front moves through. haha
Lol when it’s scorching the winds aren’t coming from the N/NW. Get what your saying though. Some relief will be nice but I don’t think it’s been too hot a summer at least here. Couple mini torches (like the one BuffaloWeather correctly called) but that happens every year.

Moderate snow here. Starting to coat grassy and elevated surfaces. 34 degrees.
btw it was wonderful being in Florida for the last 10 days. As much as I love the snow being in the warmth and sunshine was even better. Sorry TugHillMatt and Rochester Dave, I’m on BuffaloWeather and Syrmax side with this one. We loved it so much we’re looking into jobs down there for once our boys are adopted later this year and likely moving down there the end of this year or early next year.

Gradient should be much sharper. Syracuse area could very well get 8-12", but in that case BUF-ROC is not going to be 4-8".
My guess:
SYR - 10"
ROC - 3"
BUF - 2"
My guess
BUF 3.5”
ROC 4.1”
SYR 4.2”
BGM: 7.7”
ALB 6.8”
Delta in VT 14.6”

Yeah if we get a dusting in WNY we’ll be lucky
Yeah this ones cooked for us man. If we’re lucky someone sees 3” round here.

Yikes not looking good for us westerners. Hopefully this thing will tick back northwest over the next 24-36 hours or else we barely see advisory snows back here. Looks great for BGM to SYR to ALB as they have some wiggle room even if this thing shifts further SE a bit or does trend back NW.
