yep... almost everyone I know had it in that timeframe.  Not me, which I attributed at the time to a similar weird cough I had in the fall.  Coincidence I guess.

Same with my wife. All the symptoms. Me and the 2 kids got nothing. But we sanitized everything.

Sister, brother in law and their two kids are positive with COVID 19.  The kids just have runny noses, my sister has a bad head cold and no sense of taste... coffee tastes like water.  That’s why they got tested.

Test results in New York took her 6 days to get a result, beating my 5 days in VT to get a result.  They’ve not left their house since last weekend and have another week to go at least.

Any idea how and where they were exposed?

  3. I’m great full for a small parochial school. Ours haven’t missed a beat. Face to face so far. We picked up about 40 kids from surrounding towns because we were in school from the start.
We don’t take special Ed so there’s that too that we don’t have to deal with it.
I feel for you folks that have or teach special needs.

On another note, Massachusetts rejected sports betting, again. I hate this place sometimes. Lawmakers so out of touch with what the majority wants.

I wonder if this is another chuck faker personal vendetta like keeping golf courses closed in the spring.

Massachusetts is still very puritanical in a lot of ways. We’re not that far removed from the blue laws.

Yeah. Since my work has “customers” in it again I am wearing a mask for a good chunk of the day. I am going with the paper ones while teaching.

The pre order system is great at WDW.

Just got off mission space. Waiting to go to dinner at San Angel Inn

That’s all I could think of

How is the trip so far?

So far so good. 35% capacity. There’s people, but I dont feel like I’m packed in like sardines.
rides are half empty to accommodate distancing. A lot of the que’s have plexiglass between the switch backs.

All the quick serves are touchless and pre order. That should stay that way forever.
The 8-9 hours in a mask is the most difficult part. Hard for me to get used to it since I have a private office at work and don’t wear one unless I’m in the lab. But you know you have to wear one going in so it’s not too bad. It’s only mid 70’s to so that helps.

same in CT but it's mainly household/house parties/gatherings driving the spread

Maybe, maybe not. Like I’ve said before, it’s a respiratory virus that spreads. Not sure there’s a good answer other than a vaccine that’s effective.

At full capacity. Like why can't Gillette open at 50% capacity? Someone has to be smart enough to develop a ticket sales algorithm that sells seats in a socially distant nature based on purchases.

Those venues can’t open in Massachusetts until phase 4. Phase 4 is “treatments or a vaccine” according to Bakers’ phased reopening plan.

I see where RI is going on a 2 week “pause”. 33% capacity on indoor dining, gyms closed, no youth sports. She also said the following”

"If Rhode Island cooperates and complies for two weeks….We have a real shot to temper the rise which would allow us to limit the pause to just two weeks," Raimondo said. "If we don't, then I will have to go back to a total lockdown."

Not sure what complies and cooperates mean. From what I gather, RI is really mask compliment. I’m not sure how much more mask and distancing compliment the general population can get up here.

Does anyone have a prediction on how much longer we will be restricted from going in stores unless we are wearing shoes and a shirt?  I prefer to be topless and unshod when selecting my food at the grocery store. What is the point of Fritos if you don't have Free Toes?

    Lol

The difference is there’s not a law against it. It ‘s store policy from place to place. Some regions they don’t care.

then why was it setup that way? Who decided the threshold limit had to be that high if what you say is correct about viral loads and transmission?

Nobody knew. As long as it came up by 40 cycles, the sop said to call it positive.
There are a couple of studies that correlate Ct with viral plaque assays and there’s no infection above 33-34.

I'm not sure thats true. Those positives often seroconvert so they were infected. Were just catching them on the long RNA fragment tail.

Between March 26 and April 10, 2020, we measured SARS-CoV-2 antibody titres in 1343 people. Of the 624 participants with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection who had serologies done after 4 weeks, all but three seroconverted to the SARS-CoV-2 spike

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanmic/article/PIIS2666-5247(20)30120-8/fulltext

Somewhat. But we’re calling far too many positives who aren’t infectious.

Everything I've read from folks like Mina about the testing is that the high cycle threshold value for the RT PCR is fine for confirmatory medical diagnosis (covid symptoms and pcr positive) but it has little value for finding infectious people in the community. We tend to find people way too late in the illness for it to be all that useful for contract tracing. As far as I understand people who have a positive PCR are typically not false positives since they very often seroconvert (greater than 90%).

It’s too high. We’re calling people positive who never even had enough load to infect themselves much less anyone else.

I agree with the certain amount of time passed. In theory it makes sense, but I wonder if that is too vague for the govt? But yeah, the pressure will mount after a certain amount of time passes.

I think the governors that have the mandates in place will have to see a substantial drop in positives before anything is removed. Not sure how substantial will be defined.
I know I keep beating a dead horse here, but until they drop the cycle number that’s considered positive, it will last longer that it needs too. Even Fauci says it’s too high, but it hasn’t gained any traction to lower the number to something sensible.
