Towson: Big beautiful dendrites coming down at a moderate/heavy clip. Radar looks sweet for Central MD.
Measured 2 inches at 9 and 4 inches just now at 1:30

Moderate to heavy snow in Towson. No way BCPS will open tomorrow. I guess I can catch up on sleep then. Too excited to sleep now.

Snowing nice in Towson. Love the way it sparkles in the light!
What's with MD school systems and the 2-hour delays?! Everyone knows they will end up being closed, so why not just call it like the VA school systems are doing.

This was at about 1:30pm. Snow has been a consistent, light rate pretty much since then. Nothing super heavy and only the usual first-caving surfaces are covered, but real pretty. I haven't done measurements, probably still under an inch on the deck.

Using the HRRR 1hr frame and flipping back, seems like we're verifying colder each hour! Maybe this light consistent snow is helping bring things down. I'm optimistic roads and sidewalks will cave fast and with better temps for ratios and a surprise head start, I think we can surprise to the upside!Patterson Park?

Flake size ever so slightly larger in Towson also.

Been snowing for almost 1.5 hours, but no accumulation. Temp down to 34.
Same in Towson. Just now seeing a bit of white on trees and mulch. Nice to see it falling!!

Does anyone know if there are decent rates/accum. in southern PA? Thinking about a drive up 83 towards York, but not if there is no snow.

light snow/sleet/rain mix just south of Towson. Hard surfaces getting white.

give me either an Arctic December or a blowtorch December. At least both are interesting. But this cloudy, milquetoast airmass is the worst.
Just learned a new word! I always learn something new here

The winters of 09-10 and 10-11 were epic. Wish we had another year like that.
I have a theory that for every blizzard we experience, we need to "pay" 4 years till the next one. 09-10 had 3 blizzards. Therefore, we need to pay 12 years which would have taken us to 2022. In 2016 we had a blizzard, so perhaps we will need to wait till 2026 for our next one. No science or data to support this at all. Just a sense that every big one only occurs at about 4 year intervals. Hopefully, I am wrong and this year is our next big one!
Regardless, I have a feeling we will see several snows this year. Hopefully a lot of small and moderate snows to keep us busy!

CAPE and WxUSA are my new "Usetobe's". Logical, understandable, reasoned analysis along with a touch of humor and humility!! Keep it up.
Love all the others who share insight as well. Makes this place a daily visit for me.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Towson: Under heavier returns now, but mostly virga with a few very tiny flakes starting to fall
Suspect 6z gfs will come in with 4-6 in results as well since the NWS hoisted the Warning.
