I’ve struggled with how to react to all of this, but I think it’s fair to say we all handle it differently. I do fall on side that feels I should be able to make my trips to store and take my own risk, but the guilt and fact can’t trust any of the data right now has me being cautious to not offend or escalate situation
I will say this this is a topic that instead of debating with each other we should just listen to each other’s views and truly respect it. So often we try to push our beliefs on folks like we got this all figured it out. It be much better place if we just said here’s where I’m at, but also look to understand each others perspective so we accommodate each other instead of trying to influence

Not sure which has been worse...this crappy winter or Maestro’s post that add no value to this thread

Damn I’ve been begging for warm and dry, but this dude on a different level. It may be just easier to just stay off the board during winter and seek help bro instead of expecting everyone to accommodate your needs.

So nice to see sun out today after having rain for 10 out of last 15 days. Wind is def helping to dry things out

Honestly...this is only my second butt, but for the first one I made a rup based on a recipe I found online (can't remember which site right now). It has the pretty standard ingredients of brown sugar, salt, smoked paprika, chipotle pawder garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, etc. It was really nice then, so I went to it again. If you want the recipe, I'll dig it up later.
I hear ya.
What's annoying about this stall is that it was a second one. This one stalled at about 155-160 for a good couple hours, but then moved slowly and steadily until 180, when it really slowed, and then just stopped dead at 185 despite cranking the temp. It was already a moderate cook, and that stall and the slow rise out of the 180s killed my timing. I was cooking at 270-275 and banked on 8-9 hours, but that second stall took things over the edge. And while the wife, my 6-year-old, and I can hold off for an extra hour for dinner, the 17-month-old needs to have dinner and get up to bed in good time!
I think I'll be starting a couple hours earlier from now on and will foil/towel/cooler for a couple hours, as you mentioned, if needed.
Might have to try a packer brisket next. Gotta start sometime, right?
Yeh I never messed with the brisket because always figured I would f it up. I pretty much just stick to butts and ribs. I wish I had an egg tho, so I could make pizzas. I love them cook in the egg

Today’s butt had a massive second stall at 185. Even pumping the temp to 350 didn’t move it, but after 45 minutes to an hour it finally budged and made its way slowly to 200. So a total cook time of 10.25 hours...which is *way* too long, and meant we had to go to Plan B for dinner!
The stall is so unpredictable and has caused me to go to Plan B few times over past years to avoid an hangry family. Recently I’ve started just putting on around midnight and letting cook overnight and then wrapping in foil/towel in cooler for few hours. I have the Weber Smokey Mountain which isn’t as solid as the egg but does good job maintaining temps
Check out amazingribs.com site if haven’t already. Some good recipes on there

I would have never taken the 13” in December had I known I would be cursed with so many cold rain days with a few cloudy/60s in between. Bout to start sacrificing animals to the snow gods

Again this is not unlike a sports or political forum. You have your experts...your knowledgeable people....people trying to learn...comedians...attention seekers...whiners....just block out the noise and do your thing. The board is amazing when we are legit tracking a storm. When the pattern sucks...or our patience for a pattern change is tried its frustrating. I mean if you are on the board to track snow and there is no snow in sight...its easy to get sucked into other topics lol. But there is still really good discussion overall. The majority of posts are still good or funny. There are really good posters on this board. Leaving is just silly unless you leave like I leave...once winter ends...i dont post till the next winter!
Yeh I don’t typically post around here because I really bring no value lol, but given how crappy tracking has been I figured what the heck ain’t much else going on.
I think the vibe of the board is more so based on how the winter is going not so much the quality of posts. Folkscan say it wasn’t that bad of winter given we almost at climo, but I think we all agree it hasn’t been a fun winter

LOL you obviously don't talk to Howard or RVArookie much
Nah I think very highly of you. Always enjoy reading your posts and have learned so much. Sometimes you can come off little rough/arrogant to folks and guess kind of rubbed me wrong way, but’s its all good. Thanks for all you do!

I wonder if the ground will ever dry out. Only get a day or two of half assed sunshine around these parts before rain and mud.

I’m just glad I got my 13” in December. Anything else is just icing on cake at this point

I’m ok taking my 13” from December and running straight into to Spring. I want no part of sloppy seconds...just wish ground would dry it out

It was great couple weeks to see folks pretend to care about each other, but now we are hitting the stupid political/opinion phase where everyone has the answer and if someone doesn’t agree with you then off with their head
If you post more than few times a day each day In this thread then you need to ask yourself what are you doing and why. Bringing some knowledge and data is cool but don’t force your dumb shit on people like you have it all figured it out.
