...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING
THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...
The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a Beach Hazards
Statement, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through
Wednesday afternoon.
* Location...Casco Bay to the mid coast and Penobscot Bay.
* Beach Hazard...The warm air temperatures in the mid to upper 80s
may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the cold water
temperatures which are currently only in the upper 50s.
* Timing...800 AM Wednesday through 600 PM Wednesday.
* Winds...light and variable...becoming onshore 5 to 10 mph.
* Impacts...The cold water temperatures can quickly cause
hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. Anyone on boats
or paddlecraft should use extreme caution to avoid this threat.
Was at the lake Sunday in Oxford, Got to the boat launch at 6:15 am and it was 75°F, It was some hot out in the boat fishing, Good thing there was a slight breeze but even with that it was not all that refreshing.
