  1. There is one cell that has been sitting over the same area since these flared up. It is just south of 195 so thinking Jackson and other towns around them which includes Great Adventure

So flooding likely a concern the longer it parks itself.

  2. Tornado warning for Old Bridge - Edit as now canceled.

However, per radar it looks like we will just miss that cell as it will go north of us and going right for Staten Island.

Lots of lightning to my west as it approaches.

  3. Just looked at radar and wow nothing unless further north.

I know there is still time but is the curse of predicting severe weather for the area and nothing happening in play?

Yeah, hit me with the weenie tag.........

  4. Got my heavy rains to give a good soaking for the incoming heat over the next few days. Still some rain and anything more is just a bonus.

Did not get a lot of the lightning and thunder which was odd given how dark the sky was.

Edit as sky just opened up again.

  5. Bonus as just had 3rd T-Storm of rain today. Nothing big in the lightning and thunder department but nice downpours.

Was not paying attention after first two as I working on a spreadsheet and then realized why is it getting so dark. See the dark sky and my mind gives a "oh yeah!!!"

Edit - as a 4th small one just popped up over us.

    Edit 2 - as a 5th one on approach.

  6. Radar starting to fill in for NJ for next round.

Nassau County did good with the first batch this morning but looks to be weakening for Suffolk as it moves east. If those storms just offshore can make it will be the difference.

  7. Just regular rain here and it might get a little heavier if the stuff to my west holds together but you can already see the radar colors slowly changing as it comes east.

Fine with that as still another nice watering for the area and can do without the flooding rains that others have suffered today and those downstream yet to come.

Those on the south shore and eastern Long Island will have to wait and see. A decent chunk of Nassau had a nice storm per radar.

  8. Will take the rain from this storm this afternoon as no guarantee of what may fall over my area tomorrow until it actually happens.

Got lucky on July 4th with over 2" from a slow crawler so the lawns and trees here are happy.

Need a nice widespread rain for everyone

  9. Second one today as will gladly take it.

Of course I now need to let some water out of the pool after first deluge, this just adding more to it. Now if I did not add water yesterday my area would be dry as a bone this afternoon.

That's possible but it would be very isolated. For most of us it's just this band of showers that will be moving through shortly that will deliver a tenth to quarter inch of rain at most.

My lawn along with everyone else's will take what we can get.

  11. That main cell went to the south of us but still got some lightning and thunder, one was a bolt with the the thunder at the same time so you know that was a close one.

So odd as that was third or fourth thunderstorm since the new year began. Shows you how warm Jan and Feb have been.

You'll be able to tell your grandkids about the famous winter of 23 with no snow

With the way world temps are slowly rising there will be more years added to 2023 (if no snow holds) for the area.
