Storms like this suck in my climo lol. Watching everyone else flip to snow and reporting how heavy it is while I sit at 37 in the dry slot. Annopoils is way nicer then Westminster lol. I didn't like living up there.

Great snow hike! Have fun! I drove up to my cabin for this. Plan on teleworking tomorrow. I’m 30ish miles as the crow flies west of where you’re hiking - up on a ridge top. Can see Annapolis Rocks area with my binoculars!
.I was planning on doing that hike, but the jack looks like over the Catoctins. I'm thinking about hiking the watershed area. Salamander Rock looks like the highest spot. I just want to get as high as possible and hike in the snow lol

What time looks the most insane up at the Watershed? I'm planning on being there around 9am. I want to hike up to Salamander Rock during peak storm conditions. Thundersnow up there would be epic. I'm chasing!

Heading to South Mountain tomorrow morning to hike to Annopoils Rocks. Should be better up there.

LR GFS has a signal for temps in the 60's for our epic pattern period. Hell.. sounds like good news. Anything but the 40's and low 50's with 2-3 inches of rain every few days.

Tend to agree. We're down to 1 week of winter at best anymore.
I feel like that is a huge win. The past several years had 0 winter, outside of a couple below average days. That week in Jan was a fluke. The 2016 storm was a fluke during an otherwise warm winter as well. It's become pretty easy to have a year round growing season with a simply build greenhouse.

Spring is here! Look at the positive. At least it doesn't look like worthless cold and frozen mud. Hopefully we torch out the rest of Feb and March. Some dry weather would be great. Looks like great outdoor weather ahead.

Another day with the AC cranking in the car and everyone walking about the neighborhood in shorts. In fact the neighbor kid is outside washing the family SUV in shorts and tank top. Car thermometer was 69F on the way back from the gym. Another run at 70F.
Sweet pattern. Epic.
Have you ever tried weed? It's a beautiful day. Warm AF and puke worthy, but it's beautiful.
Puke warm at 67. I hope to get a couple miles on my hiking trail before dark. Trails are beautiful right now. Nice a dry.

March is going to be special. It's ripe. The pattern looks amazing. All we'll need is -25F departures, heavy rates, and nocturnal storms.
And if not, This amazing pattern has legs well into April.
I hope not lol. I'm so over 40-50 degree weather. I had my week of winter thankfully. I'm ready for blue sky and temps around 70. I rather have that than 3 more months of 40-50

me too, i loved that stretch of winter. it was so nice going on snow walks and taking it all in. if it ended there and then, i would've been happy with this winter
I agree. It doesn't get much better for my area. I probably hiked over 30 miles that week. It was fantastic.

We track the good patterns for a month ahead of time and if they do get here they last about 3 days. And yes I know where I live so no need to be snarky. It’s just the facts about weather in coastal mid Atlantic
I'd be super happy with a 3 day period of winter weather like we had a couple weeks ago. I'd take that and call this winter a winner.

I know how to swim.
lol, I'm black. No I don't. Let me not perpetuate that stereotype. I know about 5000 black people and at least 2 know how to swim. Doing it up.
Anyway, we tracking in 7 days, or what?
I always thought your profile picture was you. I was shocked that you're black lol

I feel like I'm also becoming addicted to digital blue. I use to smoke a joint, and go for a hike, or work in my gardens. Now smoking a joint isn't enough. I smoke, than soon after I'm here on the board looking for a hit of digital blue. I use to get home from work and enjoy a bong hit. Now I only care about digital blue. Does anyone have any maps? I've got cash.

The dreaded memory of March snow conversion. Never good lol.
March 1993
The super storm. I had 11" of snow that flipped to warm, 60 degree rain. That lasted a few hours. I remember the roaring SE winds and crazy temperature rise. Later that day the wind came around to the NW and the temperature dropped into the low teens that night. The snowpack froze solid like a sheet of ice. Then during the night we had a squall come through and drop about an inch of powder on top of that ice sheet. The day after the super storm was the most blowing snow I've seen in my life. It was blowing across that ice sheet. The temperatures never hit 20 and the winds were gusting to 50 mph all day.

The entire GFS was horrible. White hot Canada the entire run. I guess the pattern starts after that.

Beautiful. I've always been fascinated by the interaction between elevation and the weather. The microclimates on a mountain are awesome.
Cloudy and pretty wintery out there. Low solar energy today so my LED lights in my greenhouse are brighter this morning to make up for it.

I remember clippers. They use to be cold, dry systems. Most of the time you just get gray sky, cold temps and flurries. Once in a while we'd get a whopper (2-4") cold smoker. Seriously. What happened to clippers?

Heard my first peepers on Friday. Another tropical flooding rain. Now we watch the SE get a historic blizzard. The big ones are sniffed out early lol
-
In my head I've already started calling the storm around the 5th, the Cape Storm. Hopefully the Cape Storm doesn't give Georgia more snow than we've had in 3 years combined lol

My snow is nothing but a great memory. It all melted overnight. Bare ground for a couple weeks before hopefully round 2 in February.

Snow hides things...streets, mud, some of civilization's uglier bits. Big part of its appeal. Snow also reveals things, like animal tracks, where birds are demolishing berries, and the fact that all of nature is a giant toilet. Have a great day, everyone!
Seeing the rythm of nature exposed by snow is one of the magical things about snow. I probably hiked 30 miles last week. Most of it in the snow. The highest traffic of deer I saw the entire week was right past where my vegetable and weed garden is going this summer lol. I've got a fence, thankfully.
