There is an incredibly anomalous and *cut off* 500 mb ridge over the Arctic, which happens to be over the sea ice "hole" just north of Alaska. Given that the ice "hole" has been there for quite a while, I'd argue that the ridge is forced by the hole rather than the opposite pic.twitter.com/Dxnz4Q2TCH
