We have seen faster intensification rates in Atlantic hurricanes. Take Wilma (2005) as an extreme example (95 kt in 24 h!). But Wilma was in the Caribbean. Rapid intensity change like what we saw in Lee is rare in the Atlantic east of the Lesser Antilles.
