Any of you weather hobbyists have recommendations for THE BEST CAMERA for taking HIGHEST RESOLUTION VIDEO & photography?

The camera NEEDS to EXCEL in LOW-LIGHTING and ZOOMING capabilities, WITHOUT graininess, blurring & coarseness. As I poured through a number of cameras, the market release dates were all in the late 2017's era. It seems they're letting PHONE cameras take over the market.

Any insights on this subject, for the BEST camera in highest resolution, zooming, and low-lighting??

Here's a blue-hour blend photo from a lookout tower along the Blue Ridge Parkway (North Carolina, October 2019).

Using a planning app (PhotoPills), I was able to determine that the Milky Way would align with my position along a colorful ridge line after dark. I took a series of blue hour photos to capture the foreground while it was still dimly lit by the fading twilight. I combined the data of these photos into one image that could pull out the color detail of the foreground landscape.

When dark fell, I took a series of long exposures and combined their data in a program called Sequator. I brought the detail of the Milky Way out of the background using Photoshop, then I blended the foreground data with the night sky data for a composite.

I used a Sony A7RIII camera body and a Sigma 14-24 f/2.8 lens, but you can get similar results with much cheaper setups. It's all in the processing.

When I say "combining data," I'm talking about stacking, a process that aligns several images and averages out the data so that what stays behind is only the pixels that stay the same through the sequence. This eliminates transient objects, like hot pixels and thermal noise - the reason so many low-light photos look so grainy.

The weather conditions were cool and clear, so clear that you can actually see a little airglow in the photo.

Tonight the clouds were on the horizon so I went out into the county and farmland to get a clear view. Some nice color even if it was quite a distance away.

Hey everyone! I'm really proud of this and wanted to share it with you all as members across this forum have been instrumental in the growth of my passion for, and knowledge of, weather.

I wrote an article for TheInertia.com about a picture I took following the January 29th, 2022 snowstorm that hit our region. For many in PA, this wasn't a very great event, maybe 4-6 inches, but for those along the central shores of New Jersey, it was a different story. Thanks to some of the reports on this site, I made the call to drive down to LBI for sunrise and captured a bunch of really great shots of the snow along with the remaining swell in the water. I submitted some of the shots from this prolific morning of photography to theinertia.com's annual surf photo contest. They reached out to me on instagram and asked me to send a few sentences over about a particular shot. Since "I have an unhealthy obsession with snow and waves", I sent them over 1,500 words.

Hi folks. I enjoy weather photography, which you can see here: https://www.weatherdetectives.org/photos-snow.

Among other things, I was living in Flagstaff, AZ during our record-breaking 24 hour snowfall in 2019. We got 35.9 inches of snow on February 21, 2019! It kept me from driving for a few days afterwards. What's the most snow you've experienced?

Does anyone have any images of the spectacular supermoon total lunar eclipse? Couldn't see it here because it happened here during daylight and after moonset, but I'm hoping someone has some nice images to post!

I'll post this very interesting APOD about the blue color in the moon being due to atmospheric ozone!

I don't have nearly as much time to spend going on photography trips as I want, so I find myself shooting around the yard. I'm sure many have been the same way over the last 10 months or so due to covid. I'll update with some other photos, but here are a few that I took yesterday of the birds at the feeder in the snow. Missed my focus point on the White-Throated Sparrow (tree branch in perfect focus ) but I still like how it came out.
