    Yeah SE Canada does make a difference too. Ridge axis is a little west on that 18z run too…so even though it isn’t taller, it’s better oriented.

    Got a bike ride in after work partly to test my tolerance for these temps and it was actually kinda refreshing until halfway thru when I could barely feel my fingers. I even took a hand warmer with me. I probably could use warmer gloves, but yea, it's cold outside and this was probably below my threshold.

    this is why it’s sometimes not as simple as worse PNA -> weaker storm… the TPV is better oriented and allows the vort to curl more on the ECMWF

    That’s a pretty decent sized event for recent standards over SE areas. But I think decent banding would prob get back into interior too.

    Unfortunately, in this fast flow pattern that has been dominant since 2019, I doubt storms will pop up out of nowhere. I think if there’s enough storminess around, one will come our way.

    I actually feel very positive for the Saturday night snow . I really do think it’s coming . My gut feeling generally works

    Was just out for daycare pick up. Bet visibility was 1/4 to 1/2 mile at best, and there’s hardly any wind right now. It’s just snowing that hard. Sounded like some ice pellets were mixing in a bit once I got home. .
