It’s still there, just not a blizzard on the OP run like 18z…more of a high end advisory or low end warning look on 06z. I’d like to see a bit more amped western ridge to dig this thing more but the system is pretty evident on guidance.

Hey.. at least VA gets more cold smoke tomorrow. The annual Christmas torch looks to be gaining legs. Hopefully this isn't our two weeks of winter for the season lol
-
That's what we want to see at this point. Models keying in on signals, but won't lock on to an actual possible storm for several days. Let's keep that trend. On another note, I wonder how much of our warming is caused by excessive flatulence due to excessive beer consumption?

Kind of lost the 12-13th . Just keeps getting pushed back -
Really could be interesting!

Miserable runs for many.

I think that was the last time/year UVA won the Capital One Cup too.

Really different type of setup for this neck of the woods for tomorrow. Has Norlun Trough like characteristics, whereas those setups normally happen more in the Northeast. Inverted trough looks to enhance precip. Someone may get a decent surprise out of this.

The Department of Sanitation was in its own insular bubble that day with no idea of the imminent storm, even as Philadelphia was seeing 1/4-mile visibilities for hours. Maybe they could have followed observations here and learned about the snow.

The runoff is leading to higher salt content in the drinking water supply for areas around NYC and NJ. https://apnews.com/article/new-york-city-reservoirs-salt-c5d67e6c626878d0993974498c4629b6 The suburban reservoirs that supply 10% of New York City’s vaunted drinking water are getting saltier due to decades of road salt being spread near the system — and they will eventually have to be abandoned if nothing is done to reverse the trend, city officials warn. https://patch.com/new-jersey/bridgewater/salty-taste-nj-drinking-water-linked-use-salt-brine-roads NEW JERSEY — Have you noticed a salty taste in your water recently? New Jersey American Water said it is due to the use of salt and brine for public safety during the recent extreme winter weather and ongoing drought conditions. The water company shared a notice with customers about the change in taste on Friday.

Overnight runs still look good for around mid month. NAO dimly negative with a flip around mid-month. PNA about to drop solidly in the next week-10 days. These 2 indices bode well for storm threats materializing. Op runs still showing numerous s/w in the overall amplifying flow which is a good sign. Ensm also show the overall trend to a more amplified pattern coming, albeit for a brief stint. A threat will materialize for the area, specifics still be determined. I’m not sold on a single threat either. I see multiple opportunities for some to cash in. -
I could hear the crickets in here before I opened the thread lol

Also cant deny under 120 hrs most of these LR trends have negated. We are stuck is a pattern of sliders. shredders, and late messy phases. -

Maybe I’m saying this because my dogs got me up at 4:45am to go outside, but my backyard is a little ridiculous right now. In some spots, the snow height is almost reaching the top of my calves. And my dogs’ legs aren’t really visible. Perhaps I’ll feel better with a little more sleep I’m thankful & grateful for the bountiful start of snow season. -

While generally -SN to SN, had one or two brief periods of +SN overnight at home. -
Most guidance continues to be fairly bullish for accumulating snow tomorrow. @BooneWX how does the GRAF look? Lol

The brine they used nearly destroyed my 2019 WRX that I commute with, caused a major oil leak that nearly took out my engine if I had let it go another couple miles before stopping the car. Shop said 100% the salt brine corroded the lines etc. My fault for not washing enough, but I certainly don’t neglect to wash my vehicle. What they do in NJ is entirely excessive - yes I understand the population density warrants precaution but they take it to a degree that’s just not warranted for the weather.

URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC 429 AM EST Sun Dec 7 2025 ...FREEZING FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS MORNING... Cant tell you the last time I have seen this here.

Have to get something to dig and amplify, everything is either cutting north and missing SNE even or squashed and weak, passing off VA. Not gonna work for my area through SNE (CT) and everywhere in-between. Flow needs to calm down a tad, like the past few years it’s been fast again which isn’t helping anything to amplify in the right spot.

As I'm fond of noting, today is the earliest sunset. It's another month or so for the latest sunrise. The discrepancy is the difference between true solar time and the chronological time we use.
