I thought he said that "he" would end up with 1"? He is at home in Dover. It's raining here at work, it is snowing moderately at home. -

First Winter Storm to kickoff 2025-26 Winter season
ORH_wxman replied to Baroclinic Zone's topic in New England
Yes....we should all start our own regional forecasting company once the govt goes bankrupt and they close NWS. I'm wondering how much the current sfc temp situation will cause any "drag" on the WAA at 900-950mb....they are obviously a couple to 3 thousand feet above the sfc, but we both know that a denser airmass than advertised underneath will cause some friction or drag on the advection of that 900-950 layer....it won't matter on a huge scale, but for those where 1C makes the difference, it could be a big deal. -

Never having expected snow here in Alexandria, I'll take as a Phyrric victory that the qpf seems to have outperformed. .64 so far.

He also just backtracked a bit by putting out a post saying how dynamic cooling was causing the mix line to drop back south and we should all end up with an inch or so now. -
Can confirm. Kid in DC cold rain. Frederick for me currently sleet/ freezing rain. Kid up in Carlisle PA just showed a FT video of it puking down snow. She said about 3” on the ground now. She is thinking they will be on the higher end of the 3-6 prediction for her area.

I did say on my page that route 22 would be the dividing line between lower and higher amounts. So far that seems to be working out pretty well. -

Now up to 35, with dp 35 and a steady light rain. Have 0.23" in the bucket at post time. Adding CC to the BR on the radar upload. -
30/26 nice glaze over everything .. steady precip on my doorstep lets see if we pound flakes for a bit
-
We are all covered up and the radar looks good but poor growth, all baking soda down here so far.

Indeed - seems a bit misleading to present a subset of the data (the area around Canada) and discuss it as if it was the full set (the Arctic). That's the kind of thing that causes finger-pointing.
-
coming down steadier now, starting to whiten up the ground
