We probably get some tunneling effect here, as we are right beside the Metlife building and up and down Lex and 3rd there are some pretty tall buildings.

The wind is strong enough right now that it keeps unlocking the windows (yes, we have single-pane windows you can open up just like any regular window).

Eh. My building is in the 6th Ave canyon... even this high you can't see too far away. I guess it's so bulky it doesn't sway that much.

Yea this building isn't super bulky, especially this high up. There must be a pretty significant increase in winds in that 13 floor difference because we have been getting ridiculous gusts all day (although they have subsided somewhat in the past hour).

SLK couldn't make it out of the 20's today after hitting 70 degrees 5 days in a row last week.
Apple farmers across upstate NY are worried about their crop tonight.

I have family up there so I follow the weather. Simply a ridiculous swing in temperatures. Forecasted to drop down to 2 F tonight, more than 15 F below average.

Lights just flickered . Really windy.

That's weird, don't the power lines run underground in the city?

Whoever doubted the temperatures plummeting tonight should strongly reconsider. I'm at 39.6F with a DP of around 10F.
[/quote]

37.6 here.

DP's are really low tonight.

Had it not been for the wind, we might have dipped into the low 20s or even teens here tonight.

A lot of the boroughs have power lines above ground.
Ask Sundog how his area fared after the Queens Tornado a couple years ago.

Highest gust here is 48, which isn't hard to believe being that I was almost knocked off my bike a couple times during my ride earlier tonight. Not much fun biking against the wind

34.3 here. I think I will get down to 28 tonight.

Tommorow night might be cooler due to radational cooling of we keep the cloud cover away long enough.

Nam raised the lows for NYC from 26-27 to 29-31 for tomorrow morning.
Still has mid 60's for Wednesday.

we weren't cooling off as quickly as the 12z run showed
