  1. what was forecasted at the coast for 93 and what did you get? AFAIK, that storm was always expected to go inland from the coast.
  2. I recall it being explained right after the event that a northern s/w in the Hudson Bay/Greenland area was late to the party. Your post depicts that well.
  3. At this time of year, sea ice is not usually in the Bering Straits to any degree (even in the 1970's), so I'm not sure what the relevance of that story would be. Another AGW alarm maybe.
  4. This is a nice story and I'm glad only the mother had minor injuries. It is amazing sometimes how the only room in the house still standing is the one room or closet that the family sought shelter in. I do have one quibble with the article though. The material objects may be gone, but none of the lifetime of memories was erased in any way. The family is intact and they still have all those memories with which to continue sharing. The house and furniture can be replaced, but the children cannot. That is the blessing in the story.
  5. There is some truth to these analogs. When I lived in PA, April/May troughs often led to summer ridging. In fact, you could predict summer heat to be above/below average by what spring brought. Correlation is pretty high.
