The metaphorical zookeeper and the CPC should've overlapped for a few years to provide for calibration of the zookeeper part of the record. Measuring snow is a sticky science not likely to be fully grasped by these Central Park Conservancy "members". The funny thing is even prior to 1993 I thought they undermeasured in many storms, the 1/22/87 storm I still have no clue how they only got 8.2 inches or whatever it was. The only other event I know of where LGA/EWR were both high and NYC was notably lower was 12/5/03 and that was because LGA got hit harder by banding on 12/5 while EWR was hit by a stationary megaband all day on the 6th. Nope, it was the 27th snowiest 22 year period. However, it was the snowiest 22 year period since the end of the 1925-26 season, so definitely anomalously snowy compared to recent history.
