ok maybe it's right...40 years ago I would have gone there and measured it myself...not now at my age lol...

 

 

Being in the woods makes a huge difference in terms of retention, which I'm guessing it is. Around here, there's 4-8" in the woods, and only a couple inches in the open.

I have about 2-3" left...Central Park is still reporting 8" as of this morning...LGA reported 3" this morning...Central Park has been stuck on 8" for a week now...That can't be right?...

Hard to stick a ruler into a glacier. I am guestimating about a 5" pack where I am but measuring would be tough, especially with drifting before it froze with the ice/rain.

this year has at least 1" on the ground since 1/24...tomorrow will be 20 straight days...1947-48 had 58 consecutive days with 1" on the ground...54 in 2010-11...49 last year...last year and 2010-11 had weeks of deep snow cover...snow depths of 20" happened four times since 1993-94...two other years had 18"...

days with 10" of snow depth...

33 in 1947-48

23 in 2010-11

20 in 1960-61

16 in 2013-14

14 in 1995-96

12 in 1977-78

..8 in 2009-10

..8 in 1968-69

..8 in 1993-94

Snowpack starting to get that dirty look so a refresher would be nice.

Agreed that some spots especially away from the sun are fully covered and those in direct sunlight are less. We've had a few above freezing days like today for example that have affected those sun facing spots more.

I'm sure the sun angle is beginning to play a greater role in melting and certainly will in the next 2 weeks.
