The Amateur Hour Forecast Thread

Recommended Posts

Mods feel free to move this to the 1/24 thread, but I thought it would be a good idea for amateur posters to give their first guesses/forecasts in this thread and keep the other thread for discussion/pro guesses only.

After the 12z Suite, here's my first guess for select areas.

PHL - 1-3"

TTN - 1-3"

NNX- 2-4"

DYL- 2-4"

ABE- 3-5"

ILG- C-1"

ACY- Trace

Predictions for 1/24/2015 (would very much like for all of these to be too low!):

PHL -  C-1"
TTN -  1-2"

NNX-    0"   NXX - 2 to 3"

DYL-   2-3"

ABE-   3-5"

ILG-    C-1"

ACY-  Trace

(Tightened up some ranges just for Birds~69)

I put 0" for NNX because I don't have all these airport codes memorized, and I had to look up NNX:

PHL: 7-14"
TTN: 12-16"
NXX: 6-12"
DYL 5-9"
ABE 3-7"
ILG/IMBY: 4-8"
ACY: 10-18"

NYC: 20-30"

I have to say, being on the western edge of this is making me sick to my stomach. I'm mentally preparing myself for another BDB or 12/30/2000 type cutoff, so I guess I won't be too disappointed if I only get a few inches while places within 100 miles of me get over 2 feet.

It could be worse. My forecast for Tuesday here in Austin is sunny and 75. My hometown's point and click snow totals add up to between 24 and 37 inches. That's just obscene.

Truth be told, I'd rather have that than missing on another biggy.

...

You can head to Long Beach, I'll take your spot in Austin for this one? :P

I see big time bust potential here.... unless the Euro comes back at 0z with another consistent run, I'd probably cut the forecast accumulations in half or most.... and with the sharp cutoff it won't take much to screw the area yet again...

6-10" PHL

8-12" TTN

12-18" Ocean and Monmouth counties in NJ

5-9" ACY

12-20" NYC

DC and Baltimore get 1" or less

North DE 3-6" at most

I think the only one that's definitely getting a blizzard is Eastern LI, Mass, and points NE...

Again if the 0z Euro holds serve then bring these up 50%...
