Yes. But it can wait. I enjoy all 4 of the seasons equally. Which is why I live in this location. I do need a break from winter and usually head to Florida in mid March. I enjoy winter from Late Nov into the First week of March. After that I am ready for spring and the heat to begin. The heat this year has been pretty Meh, and the thunderstorm activity has been extremely lackluster. I can go for an entire month of scorching in September along with a few T-Storms and should be ready for fall to begin.

I am absolutely looking forward to winter - I do every year. But not yet...I love Fall, almost everything about it. No need to rush winter when its the longest season anyway. Bring on hoodies, crisp air, colorful leaves, pumpkins, ciders, Fall scented candles etc first

When winter does get here, I hope everyone doesnt hold 2013-14 as a measuring stick, or I will probably be longing for the old days when there were just the usual overblown complaints about this and that. We could be on "winter complaint thread Part 23" by late January if 2013-14 is used for anything other than fond memories lol

Am torn between A and B. I always want it to snow, so I decided that I'm looking forward and want it now. I do like fall...the colors, that first cloudy, breezy day in the 50's, etc...but honestly I think the only reason I've come to enjoy Autumn's nuances is because I know they lead to winter.

I'm schizo when it comes to winter.   A harsh winter usually means less business and less $.  So from afar I root for a mild winter.  If we are in the midst of a mild winter I love it and want it to continue, however, when that first winterstorm threat from the sw shows itself I'm like a kid all over again and throw all logic and reason out the window, $$ and business be damned. lol.

Last winter was the pinnacle of severe winters around here and I realized business survived just fine.  When spring arrived I still had my house, my family wasn't hungry, and no damage was done.   That being said, right now I'd still favor a torch over a 2013-14 repeat....*

So I guess put me down for a 'C'.

*until that first gulf storm starts organizing in December.

I've always had a passion for winter and tracking winter storms for as long as I can remember. Similarly, I love tracking severe weather, but this summer hasn't been all that fun. Hopefully we get some more active weather to track in our subforum in the coming weeks.

A repeat of last winter would be hell for some, but exciting for others. For me personally, I would love another repeat of last year :P

Enjoy!

Definitely looking forward to winter. Summer was largely overcast and devoid of severe weather. Ealy August when we had NW flow aloft for a couple of weeks and perfect temps, that was ruined by haze from fires up N. Made for great sunrises and sunsets but not much else. Grand Traverse Bay water temps never got comfortable for swimming, in part from last winter but also because of minimal sun. So, bring on stormy and cold please

  • 2 weeks later...

Who has a better shot at a 14" or more storm? Cyclone, Stebo, or Hoosier in 2014 - 2015 .... not saying statisticly or deeply scientificly.....just hunchy

I will go...

Stebo

Cyclone

Hoosier

I will add....i think the first 2 both get a 14 incher....and Hoosier will be close...

Just for fun :)

Definitely Cyclone, then Hoosier...

1) Cyclone (kinda overdue for something big, though a 6.0" or so storm would be welcome by him)

2) Stebo (something like 13.4" probably happens...DTW big snowstorm climo FTL)

3) Hoosier (luck has to run out at some point)

This is probably pretty accurate, I would be happy as hell to break the 12" threshold. Just let it come Friday Night so I can enjoy it from the comfort of my home.
