Hey Everyone

I recently had a once in a lifetime (for me anyway) road trip.  3500 miles through Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and Arizona.

Thought I would share some of the more interesting pictures.  I have difficulty chosing my favorite ones, so apologies for bombardment!

Day 1 - Coors Field (No interesting pictures)

Day 2 - Rocky Mountain National Park

Day 3 - Colorado National Monument and Scipio, Utah

Day 4 - Loneliest Road in America

Day 5 - Yosemite National Park (Entrance and Yosemite Lower Falls)

Day 6 - Yosemite National Park (Mariposa Grove, Wawona Point, and Glacier Point)

Day 7 - Yosemite National Park (Vernal and Nevada Falls)

Day 8 - Napa Valley

Day 9 - Pacific Coast Highway and Pebble Beach 17 Mile Drive

Day 10 - Pacific Coast Highway and Big Sur

Day 11 - Death Valley California

Day 12 - Red Rocks Canyon and Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon

Day 13 - Grand Canyon Kaibob Trail

Day 14 - Chase Field (No interesting pictures)

First up is Rocky Mountain National Park.  Great place to visit, this was on Route 34 (Trail Ridge Road) which is closed into the winter.  It is highest elevated road (~12,000 ft) in the US from what I understand.  Excellent to see snow at the end of July.

A very dangerous storm rolled in, with a lot of cloud to ground lightning and extremely loud thunderclaps.  Here folks were running to their cars and I took this picture really quick.  Quality just ok.

Day 3 took us to the Colorado National Monument outside of Grand Junction, and the beginning of a quite amazing trek across the "Loneliest Road in America" - Route 50.  After a low gas scare, we stopped in Scipio Utah (pop. 326) for the night.  No food, no ameneties, but one of the fondest memories of the entire trip.  A few local young adults pointed us in the right direction through some unpaved farm roads fo some great scenery.

This one is courtesy of my brother.  We have some wonderful wives, they were home with the kids while we were out galavanting.

Day 4 - The Lonelist Road in America, Route 50.

Actually just before Route 50 in Utah.  We have nothing like this back east (from NJ) so it was quite difficult not to stop every 2 miles and take more pictures.

We saw a few Shoe Trees, this was the best by far.

What else are you going to do...

Not the longest straightaway, we had one over 50 miles in AZ, but I like this picture a lot.

Interesting weather phenomenon.  There were parts of Route 50 where dust devils were so very common.  I have a  poor quality picture I didn't post with three of them in one snap.

Outside of Fallon, NV here is Sand Mountain.  It is a random 600 ft  high pile of desert sand and a campground.

This was leaving Fallon and not on Route 50, but I like the picture and there wasn't an ideal spot to display.

This view is from the 'newer' skyway bridge that put up a few years ago

One of those moving car shots, just liked how the forest fire smoke merged with the low cloud

I love this shot, even though the quality is substandard.  This guy at susnset, sitting on his perch.  Of course, one wrong move and it is a long way (or quick depending upon your perspective) to the bottom.
