34F low

Tomatoes and peppers no frost damage. Elevation is the only explanation.

I HAD 33.0 as the min reading on my thermometer, but when I got up the batteries had died lol.  All I can say is my car had a full coverage of frost on it.  I'm on a 900' kind of a plateau about 10 miles west of you.  (the car reading is to whack to count, it seems to get ok after driving a few miles)

Gas fireplace only to fill the house with heat on the chilliest days. Fan with window open really? I don't use a fan in summer

had to cave for wife and kid when house hit 64 few weeks ago.

newer houses dont retain the heat like older homes with good windows.

I like the meat locker effect when I sleep, when it's down in the low 40's & below I'll shut the window & turn the fan off, luckily my girlfriend doesn't mind. In a townhouse now so it helps that only 2 sides are exposed, in any event when I run the heat it's set at 65 during the day & 61 at night, only $113 gas bill during the height of the cold last winter. I certainly don't miss the days of dropping $800-$900 to fill the oil tank.

Ha....During cold (after Thanksgiving)....Never set it higher than 60 on first floor and 50 on (unoccupied) third floor...second floor zone never goes on all winter as it's sandwiched between the "heat"!

make up for it though during wam weather months with window air conditioner/fans.

Lol...same here. My bedroom is in the 50's throughout winter...I sleep/breath better. I'll throw a flannel on if it gets too cold. The girlfriend thing surprises me. Most chicks like to crank the heat (75+) which drives me insane. You may have a keeper...

It's like pre-season workouts for the computer models this winter with both OP's losing a strong nor'easter next weekend. Meh the ensemble sets were never enthused on it.

Or maybe like last year when the Euro has a storm at 168 then then loses it only for the GFS to pick it up inside of 72.

Have a ton of work to do on the exterior of the house so i'm ok with warmth for 3 or 4 more weeks. Fall of 1995 was like that and it worked out perfectly, as the house was all painted just in time for a cold and snowy winter.

The only issue I have with expecting the same outcome is that Fall 95 was dominated by negative neutral ENSO conditions, building towards a la nina during winter.

I think warm Novembers are fairly rare during neutral positive for this reason tend to only be found in the most anomalous winters. In the end, it could turn out in our favor but I would not hedge against it or use it as a sole indicator. My favorite analog continues to be 06-07, most likely combined with a +NAO pattern due to autumnal correlation.
