Clouds - 2014

Recommended Posts

Recently got a 16mm-35mm wide angle lens. My 24mm was not quite wide enough for some of the cloud shots I had in mind. Today I had my first good *try* with the new wide angle. Can not figure out if I like the sun flare better...

or the non sun flare better?

Only a single minutes separates these two images.

Exceptional photos. Very beautiful, particularly the first one.

nice additions

Thanks.

Thanks. I like that image also. I am not sure that taking such a decent image so early in the season is good though. I have no idea how I can top it. I'd really hate to not take a better image the rest of the year.

Made it out to the local watering hole for three visits today.

First session, CU initiation

Second session, a nice cloud shadow with this one

Third session, I wonder if will be a nice sunset

Where did these clouds come from

Glad I made it out now, fantastic clouds

Yesterday I was running two separate cameras watching the sunset. Did not get to downloading the second camera before I fell asleep. If you look at the far left of the last image above, you can see the edge of a cell. Here is a better isolated pic of that cell. It ended up giving me some pea sized hail at my house a short time later.

Tonight's post storms sunset

The Sun made a brief appearance.

Did not last long.

Starting to get some yellow here.

Okay, obviously there is a tower above these base clouds that is getting full on Sun and it back-lighting the base clouds. Full on gak yellow.

The municipal building with the yellow light and all the artificial light duking it out. Kind of freaky looking.

Tonight's sunset. Not a breath of wind. The pond laid down like glass. That is when the fish were not popping at the surface bugs and Mike the Muskrat was not chewing on and tearing out weeds while thrashing his tail.

Tonight's sunset. I was mad at myself for missing last night's sunset. It was almost perfect but alas, sometimes life gets in the way. Tonight's was still a nice one though.

This last one almost looks like a Klingon Bird of Prey. It was taken so late that the colors were all wonky. I had to make a b&w of it.
