these are interesting today. So far, small cores with like 2 pixels that might be well over 50dbz. Nice cloud scapes today, too

Yeah I think timing may make the 4th a fail

Wednesday does seem to having timing trouble. Also, the NAM is trying to actually induce a closed circulation at the surface pretty much right over head, and that stops warm sector penetration.

Yeah the GFS is really meh. The NAM has a potent follow up shortwave which would be lots of fun for the afternoon/evening. The timing issue is just as much about getting the follow up shortwave in here quickly.
The NAM, by far, is most aggressive.

Yeah its a disaster lol...I knew what we were in for with that term when I was watching sportscenter Sat morning, and the guy who was reporting on the damage at AT&T national called it out.
The 12z euro today does show a very long-lived MCS in that timeframe though. I can dream.

things just always become the flavor of the month. i've seen so many people talking about an MCS and the potential for a derecho to accompany it.

That's because the media only cares about something when it hits DC or NY.

Do people use it a lot? I only use the climo data on there and Jeff Master's blog... I find the rest of the site clutter and non-user friendly.

I use it for the Euro, and their radar. Jeff does have a good blog, and I hope that they let him continue using it.

Yeah, 2 million still without power and in an area where there is a heat crisis on-going.. .
I recall us mentioning the possibility of a Derecho ("Derechio", to ChrisM) as a threat during that period - I know there's a MCS checklist out there, but I don't know if there is a "derecho" one, per se -

yeah i know a lot of people use the site. when it comes to RADAR and such i'm almost always using desktop software or an app of some kind. i always forget they have the Euro - every now and then i'll look at their version i guess.I find their radar is the best around, in terms of looking at storms and zooming in on them.

No worries, I did not take it that way...i completely understand where your coming from with that last statement though. It always annoys the crap out of me when the media gets a hold of one of these weather terms, runs with it...and before you know it its neck deep in the climate change debate.
