Looks like we're flirting with the 70 deg dewpoint threshold (66-69 recently), and there will be some scattered thunderstorms for much of the state early to mid-week, so it's definitely getting close! However, some drier northwesterly flow later in the week could mean a delay of the true start to the wet season.

Tallahassee hits the trifecta with a 5% of severe from SPC for today, tomorrow and Wed. Multicell clusters with wet downbursts a good bet.

Radar sure looked like mid summer today. I got hosed with nice storms directly north, south, and west but I was lovin that radar!
Melbourne says ....

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.
SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS LIGHTNING STORMS ARE FORECAST THROUGH
MIDWEEK. THESE STORMS WILL AFFECT BOATERS AS THEY CROSS THE
INTRACOASTAL WATERS AND ATLANTIC DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
A FEW STORMS MAY CONTAIN STRONG DOWNBURST WINDS...SMALL HAIL...AND
FREQUENT LIGHTNING STRIKES.

An early official start on hand I am betting my shiniest nickle.

My house got pummeled today and no doubt a strangler at its near finest. I was 30 miles south working today but my wife had the good sense to walk outside as soon as she felt confident that the lightening barrage she cowered under for 20 minutes would not immediately do her in.

Just had a severe-warned storm roll through here in South Beach and got some decent hail out of it, too! The first hail I've seen on the Beach in about 6 years.

Here's a shot of the storm as it was brewing over North Miami Beach and then a couple pictures of the 0.25-0.75" hail stones that landed on my balcony.

Nice pics! I'll try to upload some later. It's been a very impressive storm! Someone found a 1" hailstone here on Virginia Key! I got hit in the head by some 0.5".

Cells are beginning to align south to north across the east coast metro areas of Miami / Ft Lauderdale / West Palm Beach, with storm motion vectors also south to north. Somebody's going to get some seriously heavy rain today.

Copious amount of rain has fallen right near the coast, just a little offshore from the storms. Those storms are producing 5-8 inches an hour according the radar 1 hour surface accumulation.
Edit: 19.5 almost 20 inches offshore.

Man this the 4th day in a row the northern space is getting slammed.

"Northern Space" ? Please explain :) (I assume north of you in Ocala)

Wet season in gear .... I have over 5 inches IMBY since the official onset for the S FL general area just 10 days ago :)

The Cape north into Volusia county.
We've only sniffed it up here but we really don't get going until about the 2nd week in June.
In fact it's 61 here with DP's in the low 60's.
Yeah we have a few weeks to go yet. :(

I went down to the beach this morning to see the SpaceX rocket launch. It was pretty good. I was about 100 miles away and it looked like a bright orange comet in the sky.

Miami International recorded over 7 inches of rain today already. They got 5 from an afternoon storm and another 2+ from another one this evening. The old daily record was 3.44".

Try 9.70!

It has been exceptionally rainy down here! :flood: Diurnal convection and sea breeze storms... plus added moisture from the south courtesy a very unsettled Caribbean... plus enhanced upward motion courtesy of multiple upper lows over the Gulf / Southeast... plus anomalous westerlies forcing convection over the east coast metro... have all come together nicely for an impressive start to the rainy season.

Couple pics of downtown earlier this week:

Not nearly as dynamic on the Treasure Coast but a co-worker of mine came out of a Fort Pierce severe yesterday (Tues May 22) with many dents on the hood and top of his Toyota Tundra thanks to 1" hail.

Nice photos and analysis, icebreaker. Last year the airport only got 2.15" of rain in all of May and 2" of that fell in one day. If I remember correctly, wet season didn't start until about the 10th of June. Completely different scenario this year--and more rain moving in right now.

South Florida getting slammed again this morning. Pretty soon you guys will have to leave the car at home and take the boat to work. :)
Some of the models have I94 coming back over NE Florida as 1000MB in the Sunday night through Tuesday time frame. Man I sure hope this happens.

This morning the PWAT in the area was .99. Right now it's 1.89.
Nothing like a good ole SE flow to juice up the atmosphere.
Bring on the rain.

Confirmed and brief small Florida style tornado touchdown in Port Saint Lucie today just south of me. One roof heavily damaged among stuff being tossed. NWS in Melbourne says 200 yards wide and 65 - 85 mph winds.

I'm lovin it! Although the past two days IMBY have been dry as compared to where you are. I'll take it over the awesome Chamber of Commerce weather in the dry season. Although I like that too ...... but want the rain more. Ahh .... tis a viscous cycle lol.
